    Need advise on selling coins

My folks collected bank issued coins for over 50 years. Asking the TBH Braintrust for their advise on how to sell them. Any good methods you recommend? Any trusted coin merchant you would recommend? Several hundred coins that I need to move.

    Thanks.

You can have local shop appraise them or pickup a red book and can grade yourself with the pictures and then price using NCGS website. Pictures could help to understand roughly what I’ll you have

Thanks bmac for the suggestion. One bank safety deposit box is so heavy with coins that both my brother and I (we are both over 6 ft & around 300 lbs so we aren’t dainty guys) have to carry it together. I just don’t have the time to photo & categorize up to 1,000 coins.

We are blessed and I know this is a “First World” kind of problem.

Anyone know of an honest coin broker to recommend?

      Thanks

Best to take your time and ebay them. If you use a dealer, you will get one third of the value. By using ebay, you will get the best value but it will take time. Your parents knew the value of these coins and paid to have them stored in a vault. BTW, be careful who you tell, you can have tens of thousands or more. I store mine in a big safe.

Pm Perow on this site. Not sure he is in that business now but he is honest and knows his stuff. He spent about 30 hours going thru stuff for me once upon a time

Sell them to individuals so you don't have to pay the collectors fee tax.

No Sir, he is in a Nursing Home with Dementia but he loves the staff and they treat him great.

Ok, background info for everyone else. Draco & I have been buddies for years and he has heard a lot of crazy yet true stories about Dad. Dad started having Mini Strokes a couple of decades ago and our General Physician told us to someday expect a Major Stroke to take him. We said “Dad is always on the big tractor or the dozer.” The Doc said in jest “Don’t put more than a Quarter Tank of Diesel in the dozer at a time so it won’t run completely out of the county if he passes at the controls!” Dad thought it was rude of Doc to say that but we agreed with Doc. He always said if he felt faint on the dozer he would “Point it toward someone he didn’t like and downshift to low gear.” Needless to say, Dad has always been a character. Even now in the Nursing Home at 87 years old, when he gets upset for whatever reason, he goes thru the NH hallways pulling the Fire Alarm levers.

Good to hear from you Draco!

The part about putting bricks in the fuel tank was just great.
