    For you fletchers...

Anybody using fletching tape instead of glue? I have both but wondering how the two compare with fletching and a lot of target shooting. Trying to decide before my feathers and arrows get here. I'll be using an arizona ez fletch if that matters.

    I use both.
I've had two that a feather came loose on. Too be fair, both arrows had been shot quite a bit and both had been through multiple animals.

I tried tape for my feathers 5-6 years ago and have not used glue since except for a dot on each end. Once you get the hang of applying it it goes much faster. Never had one come off -the fletches wear out first.

Good info guys. Thanks. Got some Black Eagle Vintage arrows on the way and some feathers from Ozarkfeathers.com Can't wait to get started. Wish I had an arrow saw to make tuning easier. I guess I can try the Dremel method but not too keen on it.

I use the Harbor freight mini chop saw. Works great. You can find them on sale for about $30

Thanks. I'll check it out. Does it come with different kinds of blades?

I used to use tape but found that it will release when it gets too hot. Like really hot. My storage building I use for my workshop gets hot in the summer and ruined the roll of tape and I had some feathers fall off. Now I use loc tite gel super glue. I really like it. Tape was a lot faster and cleaner. I think it becomes a personal preference.

You can get 2" abrasive cutoff blades for it, but I think it comes with just a saw like blade.

See, the thing is about making arrows, once you get them completed you gotta post up some pics. Trad guys like admiring some cool looking arrows almost as much as shooting them. Almost as much …

That's a step up from the crayons I use.

We won't be admiring sharpie ones, we'll be teasing you. Post pictures either way.

I’ve been getting my Ozarks from Mike for many years now. First for my indoor compound arrows, and more recently all of our trad needs.

Incidentally, I tried tape early on last year, and the only time we ever had an issue was when a couple arrows got left in the car last summer. The feathers didn’t come off, but the tape shifted from the pressure of the other arrows scrunched together. I hadn’t used glue on the leading edge. This year I put a drop of glue on the very front. We’ve shot in snow, rain, scorching heat, and high humidity, and the feathers haven’t moved. I’m careful not to cram them in an arrow tube too tightly, and we don’t leave them anywhere I wouldn’t feel okay with leaving a bow. (No hot vehicles) I never thought I’d be one to use tape, but it sure is easy and has held up well.
