Hog Panel: Low For Deer. Hugh for Hog!

Like title says we’ve got a new hog panel up around a feeder, how low should we cut entry and exit for deer? But not so low hogs will get over? We do have some big porkers.

    Thanks in advance.

If you bought hog and not cattle panel no need to cut it down at all.

No need to cut it. Hog panels are only 3' tall.

PS: Hogs jump out of 6' tall traps, so if they really want in/out they will do it LOL

I just built pens with 32" hog panels. They're high enough to keep hogs out, and deer don't mind them at all. No cutting necessary.

According to ag extension 30" is all you need.

well since cattle panels were cheaper, I used those and cut 2 sides down 18". the deer still jump the tall sections when spooked and I've only had one big hog get in ( he couldn't get back out and the heat got him).

34" is standard. Make it round and bigger than you think - at least 8 or 9 x 16 foot panels.

I have watched them jump out of a 5 foot tall pen in person. Not sure what the world record would be for that event.......

I have always cut regular panel in half and never had a breach….. until last year. I had hogs in every pen, every day, several times a day. Hog panels from now on for me

Thanks for correction it’s cattle panel. Sounds like 30” is the way to go!

I have a cow on my lease that easily hops over a 5' panel. So far just the one. I drove up to the pen to fill the feeder, the cow walks up and stands right in front of the truck at the edge of the pen and just looks at us for a minute them casually and easily hops over the fence turns around and looks at us with a "where's the corn" look in its eye. Then just as easily hops back out
