    Truck chips

Once the automakers start receiving all the chips for the thousands of trucks that are just sitting in their storage lots, do you think there will be some bargains to be had for 2021 year model? I think they would linger well in to 2022.

Most likely they'll be way over sticker & no deals.
Unbeknownst to me, trucks age like fine wine, at least that seems to be the case .

It depends on how the supply hits the market.

If it continues as a trickle, less likely to be a deal. If they flood market, I would think that by early 2022 possible to have an over supply and reduced prices.

The problem is that there are a lot of people who are holding off buying with the anticipation of a fall in market prices.

Sitting here in August, everyday that passes makes it seem less likely for an abundance of supply.

I think we will see used vehicle prices drop considerably by the end of the year if all those new vehicles hit the market.

This durn chip shortage had actually made me appreciate the truck I own.

Up until this I figured I’d just go buy another if mine got stolen.

I’m thinking short term no deals, then early summer 2022 deals come back.

Coworker of mine is from Kentucky. Went home not long ago to visit family and they have a big ford plant out near Louisville. He said there are brand new ford trucks and SUV’s as far as the eye can see out there waiting on chips. I sold my personal truck for 7k more than I paid for it two years ago and I’m holding out. Luckily I have a work truck I can use in the time being. I think we’ll see some discounted 2021 trucks towards the middle/end of 2022 and you’ll be able to snag one for a good price.

Saw this exact thing when we drove through Louisville on the 4th of July. Thousands of trucks sitting..

Friend of mine owns a large Ford dealership. He thinks that the bottom is going to fall out of the market. People that traded last year(and got more than the truck was worth) also paid a premium for their new vehicle. Gonna see major depreciation on all trucks as soon as the chips come. The economy can't handle this temporary inflation.

That wouldn’t hurt my feelings. I buy vehicles knowing they depreciate and fall like a rock. As long as rats don’t chew wires or oil or fuel congeal while sitting in those lots, i’m down to buy a cheap one.

Wife and I were just discussing this for the thousandth time today. She wants me to sell my truck and drive a 2009 prius until prices come back to earth. She's probably right but **** if I want to chance it. It's more than cars that's gonna crash, the housing market looks shaky too. In my neck of the woods a lot of people pulled money out to buy pools and boats at inflated prices. Smh

I can’t believe Ford/GM etc. don’t have more pull than they do.. these chip factories are pumping out chips daily and selling them to someone. You’d think Ford and GM had enough money to skip the line some and get their orders sooner. Which makes me think there’s more to it than just forking out a few million for a couple million chips.

My theory is that even when they start to get the chips in they will still trickle vehicles back into the market to keep the price of vehicles high. I’ve been wrong before though. In this case, I hope I am wrong because I want to get my wife a new Tahoe/Yukon or Silverado/Sierra soon.

It's more than Ford GM. All manufacturers are dealing with this. I am with you. The automotive industry has a ton of pull. Why not flex their muscles and make things happen? It is strange to me. Not sure why we haven't turned the lights on, our soil and begin manufacturing our own.

In a lot of those manufacturing facilities they pay their workers $10 per day for a 12 hour shift. We have people who put hamburgers in paper sacks demanding $15 per hour. They will NEVER bring their chip manufacturing to the United States.

Yup.. I'm expecting a big drop off next year. These current prices are ridiculous.
