    Hog hunting Lake Lavon questions.

Are there many hogs out at Lake Lavon? The one river branch looks super thick and I'm sure there are hogs there BUT

are they pressured hard like out at Granger? Are they hard to come by? Or is the place loaded with them?

I may get the chance to travel up there and try it once. If you have a good spot and are willing to share that would be great. You can PM me and it will stay a secret, I'll just be there baiting it for 2 or 3 days once in the next 2 months.

Any tips about Lkae Lavon would be nice. Good catfishing/juglining lake? What about bowfishing?

    Thanks.

Yes there are lots of hogs out there. And yes they are pushed arounld a ton. They have been very hard for me to come by since I been going out but you might try your luck. I only hunt the larger areas due to the smaller areas not having much cover and are pretty close to population witch I personaly don't care for. I've only managed 1 hog out of there in 20 to 30 trips so I don't have any sweet spots or I would share. You do need to go by the lake office and grab your army corp permit for lake lavon hunting, but it's free so thats easy. I had my boat on that lake for 2yrs and yes that is a great catfish lake on rod and reel or jugs it doesn't matter how ya do it, it will work. I've had the best luck on punch bait and fresh shad so I know they work. Night crawlers work well out there too. If ya'll will be out 2 or 3 days run a trot line, thats were I did the best. And on my jugs I always did better in 20+ ft of water while on other lakes I do better in shallower water this time of year. Thats my 2 cents. I have never done any bowfishing so no info there sorry. Good luck to ya and let me know how you do.

I am planning to hunt there in March. I don't have time in February. I have scouted several times and finally found some sign. Just so you know, I sent an email awhile back ago to the park manager about baiting. He told me it was illegal, so be careful. I scouted the northwest section. It is very dry and thick. I walked all the way to the river and was hoping to find somewhere the hogs could go down in to, but the banks were to steep. I found a small marsh area downstream. The area is small, but maybe 2 guys could hunt it. I saw lots of human tracks so I am not sure whether that is other bowhunters or racoon or other hunters. What makes the area difficult is that it is sourunded by private land. It is difficult to get in there.

been to the same spot shark. not much hog sign at all. there is a couple beavers on that river though and its interesting to see the amount of damage they can do.

go north on tbridge until it dead ends. Turn right go till it dead ends and get out and work the lake bottoms. Killed several in that thick brushy area.

Nice Hog, We had a game cam out that way until the lake waters came up the bottoms and it got flooded under water. Got some great pictures of boats though
