    Fly fishing for bass

I haven't been shooting much but been pursuing bass with a flyrod. I sold these XL double barrel poppers, but they make them in small and medium. I tie them with articulating hook so they are pretty weedless and definitely snag proof. Heres the company. https://flymenfishingcompany.com/pro...h-popper-heads, they sell them at fly shops. Heres a video on how to make them.

Thanks bud! I have fly fished bass indirectly but I couldn’t catch good ones with the littler flies. Thanks for adding I’ll get in there and try to make some

You need to add keel weight to the hook or palmer a zonker strip, they will self correct and land upright the XL heads need a 9wt it seems but I'm sure an 8wt will work

I have a lot of time the next few weeks, I dont tie anything smaller than a 10, but if you want some I can right now.

I much prefer my hooks glued in as I have less problem getting my poppers to set just right and I'm picky about it. The angle I want is like the first picture. Second picture is my favorite popper shape and color. Popper bodies are drilled out of white foam sandels.

Draco it's a tool for a specific job, I like a glue in hook as well, I encountered problems when levels get lower and you run a ground when after a pool gets shallow also when fishing heavy vegetation. What's the difference in fishing this bass bug and a conventional tackle plug with single hooks?

I also made bend back streamers to fish heavy vegetation not my favorite alternative for bass as the hook up where on the outside of the mouth. But it allowed me to keel weight the streamer and be weedless without the ineffective mono weed guard.

First thing would be able to cast, with decent equipment. My first flyrod was inexpensive, I would get a 4wt up to a 6wt flyrod and try to go with someone experienced. If you live near San Antonio you could meet up with me. My brother bought a TFO outfit from bass pro, it came with everything for $150, I caught fish with it was a 5/6 wt. There's a guy name kurt there hes an excellent teacher.

Wish I'd know that a few weeks ago. I gave a fly fishing for bigger bass seminar to the New Braufels Fly Fishing club last month. I would have come down early to fish as there is some great water down there.
