Otis Had Triplets (Saturday Pic Added)

These are not supposed to be award winning shots. However, I do hope to get some better images as the wee ones make more appearances.

Upon returning from procuring provisions, I was greeted by my ecstatic wife, who had my 50D with 70-200 attached. I know, it was my fault...I should have locked it away before I left. Anyway, she figured out how to get the big lens on and snap the following pic of our little ones. Today is the first day we've seen babies in the owl house.

I quickly scrambled to the upstairs bathroom where I could open the window and get a better look. I got the one peeking at me with the top of the other's head visible.

As night fell, we could hear the mother owl (Otis) calling. The little ones worked their way onto the edge of the opening and peered about. Later, the mother owl flew into the yard as my boy and I watched her land on the house, and then zip away. A very cool evening indeed.

I grabbed this quick shot with the onboard flash as the two peeked out. They don't give me a lot of time to get set up, so I get what I get.

WOW! I'm envious of your opportunity to watch and snap away while these little fellers grow up. What an exciting time!

That's cool! I'm sure you'll document their time in the nest very well. They look pretty big. I'm surprised you haven't seen them before now.

Your wife did good on the first photo. You may have to get her a camera.

Holy cow, that first pic is PRICELESS. The expression on the little one's face cracks me up. It's like he got in trouble at school and is awaiting Mom's arrival and the impending punishment.
