Hoody's, pullover vs zipper? My GF thinks if they are pullover then they are a shirt.

They used to be a sweatshirt or a pullover. The term hoodie is relatively new and as quack alluded to, is associated with goobers up to no good, at least in the big city. If I wear something with a hood, it’s a coat, and it’s colder than a well digger’s azz in Idaho.

A pullover hoodie is a hooded sweatshirt, and a zipper hoodie is just that. Though the colloquial term for both is hoodie. sign up now for more hoodie facts.

I call anything with a hood on it that you have to pull over to put on a "hoodie". Hooded sweatshirt, 1/4 zip, the like. If it's a full zip it's a jacket. If I see either on a summer day I know who to avoid...

Used to call them hooded sweatshirts. Now I just call them hoodies. Zipped or unzippped doesn't matter.

This is how I see it........
A hoody/hoodie is a sweatshirt with a hood. It can be pullover or zippered. There are hooded jackets, hooded shirts, hooded pajamas, hooded dresses etc. None of them are hoodys/hoodies. |

Made of soft cloth it’s a hoodie, zipper or not. If it’s thicker it’s a jacket. A pullover for me is a collared shirt without buttons.

A hoodie has a hood on it. A coat is heavier and preferably has a hood on it. A jacket is lighter than a coat. A zip up is...... pointless. It's what people wear when they don't want to wear a button up. They look like something a soccer mom would wear.

In my world, a hoodie is basically a thick sweat shirt with a hood, a 1/4 zip or similar is a pull over
