Mexico is cool for what it is.

After being stationed in SE Alabama and the wife and I were in Destin often… from now on we are just going to rent a place on 30a. Yeah it might be a little more expensive and I will have to cook meals(which I enjoy doing) but we both said we preferred it over Mexico.

Want a good view while on vacation? Go to Romania for a week. It’s cheap once you are there, don’t know the cost of flights though. Hang out in Bucharest for a few days then dead down to Constanta. Chill on the beach drinking and eyeing the topless women through your dark sunglasses. After 7 months in Poland… it sure was a nice change of scenery. Haha.

30a isn't a LITTLE more expensive. After this past summer I vowed to never go back to 30a again between May 15th and August 15th. Can't stand the crowds, can't get into a restaurant at all, we stay in beach front houses and pay for beach chairs, but I couldn't imagine going to the 30a beach otherwise. Traffic is horrible the last 150 miles, sometimes stand still. It has gotten terrible.

We did Gulf Shores year before last for a baseball tournament. I knew how it was gonna be, so I prepped myself, and I beat the system a few times, but I’ll never go back.

If I started packing the car right now for Flori-Bama, I could still be in playa mujeres faster and easier and even money at worst. I’d miss the seafood, but whatever.

My son is 11 now, and he digs the mountains. I may be done with beaches for my life, but if I need to go back, I know how!

I don’t know how some people here tie their shoes, after some of the struggles I read about with things like vacations, and buying cars.

30a condo alone for a week was more than my wife and I spent in Isla Mujeres for 18 days food and lodging. Isla is a very small island and it doesn’t wake up until about 9a and it’s almost a ghost town by midnight. Never have I not felt safe.

Something else I like about Mexico.

I can't remember running into an ahole down there. Everyone is pleasant and friendly. Even the guys trying to sell you cocaine at the marina.

On the other hand I've been to every single state in the western US from ok north except Hawaii and every state along the gulf coast. Some multiple times. Canada twice and all by car but Alaska. Been an ahole or 3 every trip. Even residents in tourist cities.

I guess the people in Mexico want your money more. Good thing is, it takes less of it.

The last cruise that we went on ( 10 years ago) was out of Galveston. Both my daughters and there husbands went with my wife and I. Upon return my youngest daughter realized that she had left their house keys in their room on the cruise ship. She called the cruise line and coordinated a pickup so we turned around and went back and parked exactly where they told us to park which was a vacant parking lot at the end of the terminal. I went in to get her keys and when I came out there was a Rent-A-Cop giving my entire family grief for being parked there and threatened to throw everyone in jail if we didn’t move immediately. And of coarse my mouth didn’t help the situation at all. Short story….welcome back to the U.S.

This looks like the same place that I’ve stayed in at Isla Mujeres. Playa Norte is a great beach, especially when the sargassum levels are high on the mainland because the wind and current blow all of it in a different direction and the beach stays clean.

Two things I don't understand:

Why take a cruise on a boat that is expensive plus you gotta pay for food and drinks and dress fancy for dinner? They stop at beach towns for a few hours. Much better to stay at a Mexico resort for the weekend all inclusive.

People rant on Facebook and boycott stores, restaurants and states that don't allow guns then the next week they are on a beach in Mexico. Lol.

Money goes a lot farther, and it’s just a hop down there on a plane !
You can stay in an all inclusive resort for same price as a nice hotel room with nothing here.

Sometimes vacations are not always just about you. They are about what she wants and likes. A sandy beach, drinks, nice no hassle dinners, access to a day spa, (great time to fish while she is at the spa...) Happy wife, happy life.
We enjoy travel, and hit Europe once a year or so. Traveling, for us is about shared experiences and meeting people from different cultures. It helps remind us how lucky we are, and what is important in life.
We also spend a week or two state side, did Colorado, (fly fishing for 5 days there one week and another week in New Mexico,) and New York. I prefer the mountains in the summer, but NYC was a little different for us.

Mexico is fine, but I earn an incentive trip every year for work and go to 5 star resorts in Hawaii, Grand Cayman, Costa Rica, Aruba, etc. Actually, leaving for Maui in the morning.
If I didn't have those, for the money, Mexico might be back on the radar.

I’m in Cancun now. We had a work event M-W and just hanging out till Saturday. We are going to take a couple clients to Cabo fishing next year. It’s easy when everything is included and the weather is in the low 80’s with a nice breeze.

We go down to Cabo every other year & have for years (we have a time share down there). Worth every penny. We've been many other places but Cabo so far is like a second home. Good food, good people, great resorts, great golf, great fishing and have never not felt safe down there. I have no problem with the wife & kid going places while I'm out fishing or playing golf. We're going back in June.

Went to Cancun my first time 34 years. Been back many times. Been to west coast a couple times. Call me crazy but I like to be around people that like to have a good time in beautiful places. Also like to drink beer and fish. Can do all the above for reasonable price down there.

Went to Sandals for first time last year on our 20th anniversary Really enjoyed that so may be out on Mexico for a while. But planning on seeing some new places and new adventures in other areas of the carribean. Mexico is always a good fall back. Especially if going with a group and maybe kids and budget is more of a concern. I'm not too picky. I have fun most every where I go.

Just glad my wife doesn't want to go back. Great that people like it though. I just thought I was maybe missing something.

This summer I get to go hang out on a beach a few hours south of Portland. It's where wife's family lives. Have to see if there's any fish to be caught there.

Low 80s and humid? Hell no. Give me winter.

The allure for me in going to Cancun was because my wife wanted to go.

What did I miss? Why do people like going there so much, just a good place to get drunk and relax or??
The drugs.

I have a friend who does an annual trip down there, it's all about the drugs and no worries of LEO messing with them.

Just glad my wife doesn't want to go back. Great that people like it though. I just thought I was maybe missing something.

This summer I get to go hang out on a beach a few hours south of Portland. It's where wife's family lives. Have to see if there's any fish to be caught there.
