My buddy has a few of them. It'll get the job done for the application you're gonna use it for. That 87gr. V-Max smacks a coyote pretty good.
Should you own one? Sure, why not? That's the real question. |

Verses a .243 the creed is a shorter, fatter case so you can load longer bullets farther out of the neck. If you don't need to do that then you don't need a 6mm creed.

I have one and love it. I wanted a rifle to shoot coyotes and such but also kill a deer if I wanted. It’s been deadly on whitetails and pigs. I don’t own a 243 so it’s a great cartridge for me.

It’s everything the 243 should’ve been. Ballisticslly it doesn’t offer anything over the 243. However it comes with faster twist barrels accepting heavier projectiles. In short it doesn’t offer anything over a custom 243 with fast twist barrel. However most people asking that question (and obviously answering) don’t have enough of an understanding to actually answer it. No knock on those asking. You’re obviously trying to learn.

Far superior off the shelf ammo than other 6mm offerings for LR work and speed for varmints. It’s here to stay. Is a great round that’s easy to load for. The 108 ELDM hammers small to medium critters. It’s low recoiling. Suppresses well. And is fairly easy to find. I’ve owned several. My daughter has one. We love it.

I went to bass pro the other day for some 7mm rem mag ammo. They had one small spot with no ammo. The shelves were full of 6.5 creed and 300 black out. They had some 6 mm also. If these newer trendy rounds are going to get all of the shelf space they may be worth it in my opinion.

There were plenty 6mm projectiles available through ammo shortage. It will stabilize 103, 105 gn. projectiles.

^Good explanation of it here. I’ve got two custom bolt guns chambered in 6 Creed and love them. One 18” and one 26”. The 18” is pretty much my go to hunting rifle and rides around in the pickup most the time. Absolutely hammers deer, pigs, and coyotes. It’s killed a few pigs past 500. Great caliber option for most Texas game and great for younger shooters as well. Another plus is that 6 Creed was one of the few calibers that factory ammo was still pretty readily available throughout Covid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve hated the 6.5 creed hype from the start. The 260 is the same. You know this. The marketing department at Hornady is world class lol. And the big boys back them. Hence the 6 creed 6.5 creed PRC line up. I DO like the 6 creed. Do not care for the 6.5 lol

I own a couple .243’s and ammo already, so I won’t be buying a 6mm creed But if I was looking to fill that gap (.223/.308) I would have consider one given the ammo is available. Especially for my wife and daughter. |

Do you carry an ie.. purse or man satchel or wear flippy floppies while sporting a man bun? The last two do not have to be worn together. If you answered yes , you need a 6.5 creed.

It’s a 243.. or a 6.5creed necked down to 243.
Typical rifles will be twisted faster to stabilize heavy bullets. Otherwise it’s a slightly less powerful 243. |

I built a fast twist .243 to shoot the heavier bullets because I already had the brass and dies.
If you reload, the 6mm variants are a great choice for a mid rifle that’s good for target and hunting I say you deserve one!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by mkk; 11-20-2022 at 09:18 AM. |

It’s basically a readily available fast twist 243. It won’t do anything an 8 twist 243 won’t, but it’ll do a lot of things better than a 10 twist 243.

Off shelf ammo is enough reason to own one. Inherently accurate. 4 out of 6 gun stores I went to this past week had 6mm creed on the shelf. Did I mention it shoots small torpedos and kills deer exceptionally well?

6mm creed is a great round. Enough power for any native game in Texas and small enough to not blow varmints apart. Not to mention the TONS of shelf availability. Pretty sweet caliber to hunt and plink steel with.

I had a .244 Rem once. Very good accuracy til the barrel got hot and fun to shoot. Kilt a few yotes and a bunch of p-dog at distance. I would zing a 60gr pill out to 3900 fps from my hand loads and vaporize P-dogs at 400 yds IF I could hit them

Funny that most love the 6mm Creed but badmouth the 6.5.
Load both with a good 100 gr hunting bullet and the 6.5 out runs the 6 by 200 fps. Same as the .260 load a 100 gr Partition or TTSX in it and it’s a bad mofo. Good 100 gr bullet will kill anything we have - no need to use 2 lb bullets in cases that don’t hold enough powder to push em. |

If we want to compare hunting guns then let’s just slap a 300 win mag launching a 180 accubond and end that discussion lol. It goes on and on. The 6 creed does what it was intended to do very well. It wasn’t marketed as a hunting gun. But I’ve shot plenty with one and it does great. |

Ok. So show me how-in the 50-400 yd range that 99% of hogs and deer are killed at- how a 6mm 100 gr bullet @ 3,000 fps will out perform a 6.5mm 100 gr bullet @ 3,200 fps.

That is exactly what I’ve said from the day the 6.5 Creed came out. That case don’t have enough azz to push those 145+ gr bullets fast enough to shoot flat in normal hunting range. It will push a 100 gr just fine though. For hunters it matters not if the heavier bullets hold up better at 1,000 yards cause shooting deer at that range is a good way to feed the buzzards.
