Time For Me To Get Ready

With our bow season opener coming OCT 2nd, it's time for me to get things ready for it.

My stands, etc have been in place for months.

Unfortunately I haven't shot my bow in months.
The last time I shot it was when I changed the limbs on it, and only shot a few arrows to begin the tuning process.
I'll be finishing that process this afternoon when it cools down some.

    I'll be ready.

I have found myself in the opposite situation. I have been shooting my bow religiously all year, but got on a last minute lease with nothing ready until two days ago.

I guess my preliminary tuning was better than I thought it to be.
Didn't have to change a thing.

This was my second group after a 5 target arrow warm up.
First group was a little bigger, but not much

      20 yards:
      2 - Broad Heads
      2 - Bare Shafts
      1 - Target Point

Naturally, the stripped fletching had to be one of the broadheads.
      No biggie.

      I'm good to go.

I'm way behind too. At least in the shooting department.

I don't really have to shoot a lot, or often to stay in shape to shoot.
Plus, I aim, and I don't forget how I aim.

20 yards is my point on.

Well I'm able to shoot well enough I guess but I'm not able to shoot as many reps as I normally do to prep.

It only takes the one shot (usually).

I've got to go check out my main spot tomorrow.

It's a pretty good hike to it. Not real far (3/4 mile), but lots of brush, and tangle, and I have to cross the creek.

Just want to make sure the one trail I have getting in there is passable. It will be before I leave.

I waited until now to clear the trail, because if I had done it earlier it would all be grown back over by now, and I'd have to do it again anyway.

The animals will have a week to forget I was there.

                    Thanks.

                    The Bow is:
JC Optimus 21" ILF riser, with 66# at my 29.5" draw medium TradTech carbon/wood limbs for an OAL length of 64".

                    The Arrows are:
Widowmaker Smash .300 carbon shafts, cut to 31.25" back of point.
                    235 gr broadhead/insert/outsert combined weight.
4" marco vanes on a 6" Bohning wrap for the fletching.
                    McKenny Pin nocks.
                    655 gr total arrow weight.

Last time I chronographed it, the speed was 215, but that arrow weight is 25 gr heavier now, so I figure it's currently somewhere in the vicinity of 200 - 205 fps.

I bumped the arrow weight up, in combination with a few other adjustment, in order to get my point on down to 20 yards. It worked, and it still has lots of delivered energy.

Hope your pig population is better than ours. Seems slim this season. However our acorn crop is way down so hopefully that means the feeders will keep getting pounded.

I went over today, and got me a good access trail cut from the river up to my stand & feeder.

We still see pigs quite a bit, and they (and whatever else) must be hitting the feeder pretty hard. There wasn't a kernel of feed on the ground anywhere.

Made me think the feeder wasn't working but it was. It feeds for 15 seconds twice a day, and they are cleaning it up.

Yeah our deer are pounding the feeders. I won't get to go till Sunday evening but will hunt then and Monday. The hardest part about killing doe will be finding a fawn less one. Greatvfawn crop this year as well as last.

Yeah, I won't shoot a doe, especially not here at the house.

We are covered up with them. Our doe to buck ratio is terrible. We have to thin them.
