Default Mark your calendars.....Bownanza!

May 8th - America Pavilion, Veteran's Park

This year's Nanza will be just a little different. The park we had it at last year is a COVID Vaccine location and we are not going to be able to go back there. So...we were able to secure the American Pavilion again. However, and unfortunately, we are going to have to change it up with Teams, as we will not be able to have crawfish or fried fish. (The have included No Deep Fryers to the No Crawfish List).

But....we are a creative group ...so I have no doubt we can come up with a one "different" year plan. We can get back to the new park next year and pick up our normal Nanza routine

I'll work to see if I can get one of the hotels across the street to work with me on a block of rooms and update you on that ASAP.

I may get beaten up and ran out of town, but air fried catfish isn't too bad. Not sure if there's an alternative to the crawfish, unless someone lives nearby would allow the team to cook at their house and transport to the park.

...thinkin' out loud here, but there's more than one way to fry fish... A skillet and camp stove ain't a deep fryer... Mary is it the deep fryers they don't want or the cooking/serving of the fish? I bet our team could come up with a bunch of camp stoves and skillets if that's allowed??

Dangit... that Sunday is Mother’s Day. I’ll check with the wife if she would like a “weekend getaway” for Mother’s Day, lol. I really, really want to make a ‘nanza and meet some of these folks I respect on the green screen in person.

Brazos County Archery Club is hosting an ASA qualifier in Bryan that weekend. Otherwise, I'd say cook them crawdads out there, but I'm sure those of us who live and work in the area will find a way to get cooked crawfish to the site.

We just cannot cook them there, right, Mary? Just want to be clear on it.

No crawfish in the parks...period. I just tried the approach of cooking elsewhere and bringing in....no go.

I'm sure they have had people come in and leave their trash on the ground. Crawfish are not easy to pick up after.

We just need to make the adjustments this year. We will move back to the other park next year. Having it here is a way to not miss out on getting together for 2021.

I may have to wait till next year to participate being Mother's Day weekend. And a truck that may or may not be finished with a new motor by then. There are a few other variables in the mix too.

Thought for one of the many options for Team Fishheads

Grilled fish sandwiches ala BJ's in Key West ain't all bad. Pan fried fish in butter, add a little garlic and onion, dash of Barnacle Dust on a toasted poppy seed bun. Add your finishing touches from tabasco, tartar, red sauce, or remoulade

I have a burner and disc cooker

Will keep the crappie I caught this past week for Bownanza event to add to groceries

IN - Sittin' on "G", waitin' on "O"

Thanks for the offer Geoff. I'm certain it would be great company! But I better hang out here. Family may do something special since this will be her first year without my Dad present. He always had something special for her. Even after 64 years of marriage. 3 more weeks would have made 65.

Not this team. I've made sure of that. All peanut oil ($12 gallon) gets filtered and reused. Its about the only oil you can do that with. And any other oil goes to feeding hogs, including oil no longer usable. What doesn't get used goes into storage.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

I think the crawfish ban has more to do with the mess left behind than anything else. Not necessarily by TBH’ers just past park guest.

I can assure you it was not by TBH'ers. We make sure the area is as clean, or cleaner than we found it....every year! If I am not sure the night before, it is my last stop to check before heading home the next day.
