Default Bryan Keeling (T-Post): Matsuri African Safari Fundraiser

Administration Approved! Thank you, Mary and Michael!

Many of you know Bryan Keeling and his wife, Debbie, as they have been pillars of the archery community for many years and have always helped others whenever needed. Bryan posts as T-Post on TBH. For the past several years Bryan has had multiple medical scares, with the most recent occurring on June 22, 2019. He fell 8 feet from scaffolding while welding a beam on a new barn. He was airlifted to Texsan Hospital in San Antonio where he was admitted to ICU. He then was transferred to ICU at Methodist Main with a 8 mm brain bleed, punctured lung, broken scapula and four broken ribs. He was released yesterday. The information below is a summary of Bryan's medical ordeal over the last several years that was sent to me by Bryan's daughter. With all of his medical bills and time off of work, they could use a little assistance from the bowhunters of Texas. Matsuri Safaris has graciously donated an African Safari to be auctioned off with ALL funds going directly to Bryan and Debbie. This auction is in conjunction with the Lone Star Bowhunters Association and Traditional Bowhunters of Texas. There is also a Medical Fundraiser account through Facebook set up by his family. Here is a link.

From Bryan and Debbie's daughter:

In March of 2014, Bryan had a full length aortic dissection. These are rare and more severe and painful than the worst heart attack. They are almost always fatal. He was completely caught unaware as he’d been healthy with no heart problems. After a 7 hour surgery to insert a mechanical heart valve and replace the aorta with a decron graft (same material as bow string haha) and it was determined he most likely was born with an aneurism in his heart and that he actually had a healthy heart with zero clogged arteries or plaque. In March of 2015 he had to have a 2nd heart surgery, that one lasting 11 hours to repair the leak in the graft. In 2017 he was airflighted again after having a pretty serious seizure. It was determined that the stroke he had during his 2nd heart surgery left him with seizure activity which he had has been treating with anti-seizure medication since with little to no issues since the incident. July 22, 2019 he was airflighted again. Initially we thought it was his heart again due to the symptoms but fortunately it wasn’t. We’re still unsure how or why it happened but he took a fall from scaffolding leaving him with a broken scapula (shoulder blade), 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a brain bleed.

Debbie also suffered a heart attack in 2016 and was hospitalized.

Here is the safari information:

Matsuri Safaris has donated the following:

7 day Hunt for 2 hunters
$1000 towards trophy fees for each hunter.
Included will be daily rates, guiding fees, food, drinks, field prep of trophies and transportation to a taxidermist.

Excluded will be arriving and departing days per fees on website, airport pick up.

Hunt can be upgraded per fees on site $275 pppd

Van runs an excellent concession! The food is awesome! He has great guides and trackers. The critters are plentiful!

Several TBHers have hunted with him in the past. Bobby, Hunter and I, along with three other hunters and their wives went last year and killed 31 animals. The Stolles and Ingles went this year and had a heckuva a trip! Here is a link to their thread. Bisch, Mike Brown, Chris Brown and Ed Lipscomb have all hunted with Matsuri.

Again, all funds will go directly to Bryan Keeling. We will leave the auction open to 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019. The hunt will be released to the purchaser upon confirmation of funds received by Bryan.

Bids will be made here online.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know. You can text me at 409 739-2630 or email me at denakana@gmail.com. Bobby will be posting some of our pictures later this evening.

Thank you! Please keep Bryan and Debbie in your prayers!

We had a great time at Matsuri. Van runs a top notch operation and youíre wanting to go back before you even leave. Better yet, youíll be helping someone in need.

I just edited my post. It is actually a Medical Fundraiser account setup through Facebook. I posted the link about, but here it is again for you.

Just to be clear, there is no minimum for an opening bid. I apologize for the confusion.

Prayers up for you Bryan and Debbie. Those are some good folks. Thank you Van and Matsuri Safaris. This is a heck of a hunt, and I am ready to go back. This was the first animal that was killed on our trip.

I will start the bid off then.
$100.00

This is for bow or gun.

Also, I made a mistake in my original post, it should be July 22, 2019 for Bryan's fall, not June 22, 2019.

Prayers for Bryan and Debbie

We just got back a few weeks ago from Matsuri.

No better time than the present to start planning our next trip. I still need to get that zebra with my bow, support my fellow hunters in fumba nyau, partake in more prizes and penalties, cheer on the nightly Macarena mamba, and sit by the campfire with Quoos, speckles, jeckel and ruger.

.

Since we just got back, thereís no way I could bid on this one, but thought it needed a bump and some pictures from our trip with Van.

If you are into disconnecting then you will love the camp. Well you still get WiFi and electricity for a few hours a day.

Coolest part to me was the wood fired water heaters.

The food, drink and camaraderie was over the top.

Tommy, y'all had some great animals taken! The Sable is awesome and is on Bobby's list for our next trip. Two of the hunters with us last time both took nice Sable.

I posted Bryan had been released yesterday as he was hoping to be, but from his daughter, Codi...

UPDATE 07/31/19:

Bryan Keeling was moved to a private room on the neurology floor day before yesterday due to his unbelievably positive recovery! They started him back on his blood thinner required for his mechanical heart valve but thinking if all goes well, he could be released as soon as a few days! We want you all to know how very much we appreciate you! ♥️
