U.S. Border agent takes fire from Mexico

Just read this on fox. Is there a policy that prevents BP from returning fire? This is some B.S.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent in Texas was shot at from Mexico on New Year's Day while apprehending a migrant who crossed into the country illegally, a law enforcement source tells Fox News.

about 40 years ago a Border Patrol agent I knew was eating lunch and a Mexican across the river shot at him. Barry rolled over and punched out a couple 45ACPs killing him. The proverbial poo hit the fan, caused an International incident.

I don’t think USA policy is to shoot across the frontier?
I remember when that sheriff from Texas was be headed by cartel on falcon lake , the USA had to get permission from the Mexican marine general to retrieve the body

I worked the the border for several years and have no recollection of a Tx Sheriff being decapitated? Of course these days, I'm lucky to remember lunch. Are you thinking of the Mex State Police Commander who was investigating the shooting of an American jet skier on Falcon in 2010? Flores was beheaded, body dumped and head was found outside a Mx military base.

We should consider this an act of war and open a can of whoop-*** on the cartels.

I don’t get it, why don’t we just send in an air strike and be done with it. What are they gonna do? Attack us? Why do we continue to take this stuff from them?

As others stated, the policy has been in place forever. Not that I agree but I understand.

When I went for orientation for the Border Patrol back in the mid 90s. They made it very clear that if you encounter any situation where someone from the other side of the border is hostile, in any way, you are to pull back and call for back up.

They used the example of getting rocks thrown at you on many occasions. They showed pictures of BP trucks with smashed windshields, dented in hoods. These guys were throwing 5 lb. to 10 lb. rocks. They showed pictures of BP agents with serious head injuries as a result of getting hit with rocks of that size. They still made it clear, you are not to return fire, to pull back and call for back up.

I wish I could have recorded the whole orientation. Much of what they told me about their policy really ****** me off. I very quickly realized I would get in trouble if I went to work for BP, I decided I was done that day.

Then within a year or two. Two BP agents went to help with a stand off, down in the Devine to Bigfoot area, I think. The perp was the son of a sheriff's deputy or something along those lines. He turned out to be hiding in a corn field with an AK-47. He killed both BP agents before they had any change to draw their guns. There is a good chance anyone showing up for that call would have gotten ambushed, but I am going to say, BP agents were probably the worst prepared for an armed confrontation.

Seeing and hearing what I saw in the orientation many years ago, I knew that numerous BP agents would die as a direct result of their BS policies. That was back in the Clinton days. So, how they were told to deal with events, were probably not much better than what the BP is told to do currently.

Our BP should be able to protect our boarders at all costs, they should never back down, never retreat. They should be allowed to use deadly force if there is any question about their safety or any other US citizen. That's not the way things are.

Perfect, get rid of the cartel and the threat from across the river. Then when all the bleeding heart morons start to riot we call in an air strike on them as well. Cleaning up the trash should happen on both sides of the Rio.

Plus, if it were safe again maybe we could all go back to BoysTown across the river and have a rip roaring good time for $25. The good old days are gone but not forgotten.
