    BAOFENG radios info

Anyone on here a Baofeng radio expert? I hunt in Old Mexico. Would this be a good choice to talk from stand to stand over there? Does the FCC regulate them? Rolling brushy terrain how far do they usually go?

    Thanks

I use them on wildland deployments in differing terrain. I have never had an issue communicating a couple of miles. I do not have an FCC license.

They have a walki-talki style communication as well as ham channel access. You need a license to transmit over ham but not over the unit to unit channels.

        FCC doesn’t exist in Mexico

They work pretty well for us in the mountains, the only downside is if they are on and in your pocket they get hot mic'd pretty easily which will screw everything up for everyone.
