It's game week! A couple of compelling games for "Week 0" in Miami v. UF and then Sumlin's Wildcats travel to HI.

I just drove 2370 miles (over 3 days) and listened to quite a bit of national CFB talk. A couple of stats/narratives that came up that I found interesting is...

1. In 25 of the last 26 seasons (2011 the exception) a team starting outside the Top 25 has finished the season ranked in the Top 10.

2. Since 2002, at least one team starting the season ranked in the Top 10 has finished unranked in the final poll.

Who would be your mostly likely candidates for each scenario this season?

I'm beyond ready! It should be fun watching the LH's offense this year, returning a lot of starters, as long as out rb's stay healthy we should be productive as a whole. I'm really looking forward to seeing the defense though, lost a lot of starters but replacing with talented youngsters. I'm expecting a learning curve early in the season but would like to see them get better mid-late season. I honestly thought our defense was a little soft last year, with the exception of a few games(Sugar Bowl), so change doesn't sound too bad to me.

Yep. That was, of course, the primary caveat of the discussion as most went by coaches poll and several listed Nebraska as a team that could find their way into Top 10...but most expected them to be Top 25 in AP today (as evidenced above).

Army is a compelling possibility from Group of 5. UH was mentioned. I think USC would be a good choice if they can get through their tough early schedule.

UF was probably the most mentioned in the other category. Many felt that tu is overrated in Top 10, but unlikely to drop out of final poll. I think most here would probably concur with that. ND would be another reasonable choice. I still think LSU could take a step back, as well, with their tough schedule.
