    A REAL good skinner

I’ve yet to find and use a good skinner. Need one that can hold up to at least 2-3 deer before needing sharpening. Suggestions please

Most skinners don’t last that long without a touch up because they are made with flexible steel. If you want something to last that long look at VG10 or similar steels. It probably won’t flex though. Otherwise just get a good hone. It takes 30 seconds to touch up a decent knife here and there.

If you are not cutting hair most decent skinners will last a couple deer I skinned two hogs last night without sharpening using a Buck crosslok pbs I don’t cut much hair though I used the gut hook for cutting the hide except for the initial holes to get the hook started.

This, you can thank me later. Have had mine for over 40 years and have never found a better blade. This article tells it's story and while not a fan of the author I am a fan of the knife.

Outdoor edge replaceable blade knives work fantastic.

Gutted two buffalo with the outdoor edge replaceable blade last week. Could still skin a deer or two with the same blade

Outdoor edge replaceable blades work really well. Old carbon steel blades work great for skinning and trimming, they touch up pretty dang fast.

I use the small knife as my skinner. They both hold an edge really well. Ive skinned three or so deer in between hitting stones and just using a steel.
