    7mm Magnum loads

Got a pretty M70 Super Grade, 7mm Magnum. Going to work up a Nilgai load. Any suggestions??

    partition
    A-Frame
    Barnes LRX

    I don't have any H1000 or Retumbo

    Do have:
    RL-26
    IMR 7828ssc
    H4831sc

Working with 150gr ballistic Tips and Berger 168gr Game Hunters

You can never go wrong with H4831 in a 7. And those 150 Ballistic tips are what I shoot in mine. You could go to a stouter constructed bullet, if you wanted to.

Assuming it’s a 1:10 or 1:10.5 twist which was more common in factory loads I would stick with a 160 Accubond or Barnes TSX. From the powders you listed I would start with H4831 or RL26.

If Nilgai is on the menu, the 160gr Barnes TSX would be my first choice.

What’s your twist rate? Are you recoil sensitive? Muzzle brake?

Mine hated the ABLR. I’m shooting a 180 Berger at 3075 with a stout load of retumbo in Norma brass. It shot the eldm ok and the standard accubond well. Nilgai is about the only critter I wouldn’t shoot with my Berger’s lol. I’m running a 1/8 proof sendero light. 8 lbs 10 ounces with a leupold mk6. Without the muzzle brake It’s not real pleasant lol. Lots of muzzle jump. Running a WTO Brake and it’s not bad at all.

I can get my load info tomorrow or possibly later this evening. It’s near 80 grains of retumbo. I do not recommend that load without very carefully walking it up in your rifle.

I would use an accubond for nilgai.

              I'd use the Partitions myself.

                Which is more accurate??

                Accubond
                Accubond LR
                Partition
                Swift A Frame

My most accurate load for my 7mm is with 4831sc. Usually a softer bullet is more accurate but not always. I would start with the accubonds and go from there.

Not the norm but I landed on Sierra BT 175gr bullets with 60 gr of Imr 4350 for my weatherby 7 mag. It loves them.

Since '92, this is my 7mag "Match" load for my barrel:

60.1 gr 4831 (trickle feed for precise measurement)
                      162gr Hornady BTSP Interlock
Every brass is measured and trimmed
Every bullet is weighed. About 10% don't make it. Too light or heavy.

I've cycled a hundred loads with this caliber and barrel to rest with this combination.

Totally depends on your gun and what reamer was used to cut the barrel.

I love the 162gr Interlock in my 7mm Sendero.. It shoots clover leafs with IMR4350.. Are you using IMR4831 or H4831??

I thought the reamer cut the chamber?
