Will be interesting to see how thick the teal get in certain areas with the lack of water there will be.

I'ma ready for the cool weather!
As for teal, there's still plenty of time to rain and fill/make some potholes down here. I haven't looked on the river yet, to see if there is anything nesting there. But did see 2 doz local Canada's just over some roof tops Saturday morning while biking riding. And thanks to Dave, for starting this thread. ![]() The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go! |

LMOA!!! But the shoveler has blue on the wing! Doesn't that make it a blue wing teal if you shoot him during teal season?
![]() That might work on a N Tx GW. We sat on the side of I20 for 30 minutes or more waiting on a supervisor 20 years ago to come identify a widgeon drake that was shot when pintail season wasn't open. It has a tail so it has to be a pintail! ![]() |

Looking forward to it!
We were really, really dry this summer. We had 10” in May then it shut off. No significant rainfall in June, crazy bad. Nothing in July either until the last couple days of the month, and thank goodness we’ve had 9.5” since then with these couple little fronts. It definitely helped the soil moisture going into fall, but we need more. Timely rain and weather will be the story as usual. If our rivers get to good levels, hunting will be good. Hoping that pressure lessens again this year. Definitely going to beat on the specs a few more times this year. I’ve started to really enjoy that hunting and we seem to have more specs every year. We have a little “cold front” forecasted for next week that should bring some showers and highs in the low 80s. Wouldn’t be shocked to see a few teal, but we really don’t get that many blue wings in this area. |

Pretty funny! I haven't had a coot or gallinule that wasn't good though. Never killed or ate a shoveler though.
Sep 1st season starts here in AK, been scouting as much as I can to get on some birds opening morning and before they get shot at too much and wise up. I'm chomping at the bit and ready to go. |

Lots of our small ponds and lakes are very low or dry, might push those birds down early this year.
Wish we had an early teal season, we get 2 bonus teal during part of our season. |

[QUOTE=CTR0022;16350203]Looks like another la Nina winter....
Yep ,gonna kill the hunting again if so. Lots of places already low on water, LCRA not selling duck water Etc. Birds are gonna get pounded & move on because of pressure. Hope it doesn't happen ,but setting up like last season & it was beyond bad in most areas, but I'll be out there enjoying the outdoors. |

Unless something changes, seems like there is going to be a lot less water on public this year. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's not. All depends on where you hunt I suppose.

If it keeps going like it has been I won't have much water to hunt and I don't think any ducks are gonna come into my spread on a dry tank. Hopefully we get some substantial rain before season and some good cold fronts during it

Well yall coastal boys should have so.e good BWT and redhead numbers.
Everything else looks pretty bleak, especially coupled with the predicted La Nina weather patterns this winter. |

Get your pintails in this year, lowest counts ever, expect a closed season for 23/24.
Personally I think they should make an emergency action with a reduced season this year for Pintail.
