    Dawn dishwashing soap

I frequently see that people recommend Dawn for a surfactant, tick/flea killer, or whatever else. My question is...why DAWN? Why not any kind od dishwashing soap? Does Dawn have some super extra ingredient that makes it so special, or does everybody simply repeat Dawn because they have seen it recomended before. Has Dawn become generic for dishwashing soap like Coke is generic for soft drink?

Does anybody really know the answer or just making an assumption?

Because if it's safe enough to get oil off baby ducks it's safe enough for the pup

I think you’re right on in thinking Dawn is just the go to name for dish soap. We always just get the H-E-B brand blue dish soap but call it Dawn. No special ingredients that I know of.

Burnadale, with a name like "Dawn", I'm sure a "light" will go off upstairs sometime soon. Dawn is when daylight starts. Would you rather us call it "Dusk dish washing soap"?

I know that dawn is what is used on tow boats when there is any oil spilled in the river. It is not supposed to be used, but it is. It breaks up the sheen.

We’ve used other types of dishwashing soap for fungus and mites on horses, dogs and cats and it doesn’t work as well. Either we have to apply it more or it doesn’t work at all and we end up going back to DAWN. DAWN seems to be more concentrated and never fails so there must be something in it that specifically works.
