Any WOODEN GUN recommendations to upgrade my duck gun?

I bet that shotty has a very long plug in that very long extended magazine?

And to answer your question, some old Remwood that holds a Wingmaster Magnum together should work if it still has all the metal in it to make it a full shotty.

That thing would double as a good handle for that hi-lift jack you used to shoot that doe with...

Speaking of high wood prices, like 15 bucks worth of hardwood dowel.

Most people that actually use their rifles to hunt and carry them through the woods don't want a beautiful, high lustre wood stock these days.

They are still available but come at a premium price. Probably the most affordable are the Cooper rifles.

I have some wood furniture guns but they typically stay in the safe because I use my guns.

I still prefer the wood and blue. I may be in the minority, but I actually hunt and use them and don't try to baby them. Knicks scratches, blemishes, all create character. I want that gun to tell a story with its looks when it's handed down. I have a 114 year old shotgun from a 2nd great grandfather and that thing is well used but I love the look of it.

I think i read somewhere that more deer have been killed in Texas by 6.5 Creedmoor than any other cartridge ever.

If you are taking bets on that, I have $1k I will put up.
                      30-06 is probably the leader.

I bought my first Browning A-bolt in the summer of 1984. Wood stocked, high-lustre blued metal finish - beautiful accurate rifle. Around 1992 Browning introduced an A-bolt in the “composite stalker” variation which sold for $349. Black composite stock with satin black finish metal as it was cool looking. Browning marketed this variation impervious to weather and sales numbers have increased every year since. In recent years, film dipping and camo composite stocks are the new rage. Very cheap to produce as manufacturers pour synthetic material into a mold and the stock is drop-in perfect. It might take 2-3 hours to produce a synthetic plastic stock. Probably takes 10-12 hours to produce a nice wood factory stock.

I wouldn’t say the composite stocks are ‘drop in perfect’. In fact, pretty much all the ones I have handled leave little to be desired in the way of true accuracy.
