I have an action I re-barreled in a different caliber. I need to mark the caliber on the barrel. I have a set of steel stamps but that always seems to come out looking kind of crude. Any suggestions on how to get professional looking results without breaking the budget?

A pretty cheap option is a Brother label maker that utilizes the stencil tapes. I bought a PT-P700 reconditioned from Brother for $60 and I use the STe-141 stencil tape. Use Brother software and print what ever you want. Tape it to barrel and mask around the stencil with tape. You can use a salt water mix or 1:30 mix of Muriatic acid. 12 volt battery charger (that has an option for start, or older model that will spark when you touch leads together) or build your own power supply. After you etch for depth with DC, you need AC to make it black. So that's where a DIY power supply is handy.
