Since this thread got bumped I figured I'd mention the time is up and that boat is in my driveway getting cleaned up for sale soon.

If you ever do, do yourself a favor and hang an ETec on it. OMG the difference...
How did you like the Suzuki 140? Thinking about re powering and that's an option.

Are you trying to drop me a hint?

Zero chance I'll ever own another one in my lifetime. It cost me a lot of extra money to rip that Suzuki off and put the Etec on and I don't regret it for a second. Zuke ran fine until it almost drown me crossing a rough bay in the middle of the night when the computer went out. Handling West Matagorda Bay swells coming over the back and sides of the boat with barely more than idle power was some serious pucker factor, but getting screwed out of my warranty claim is what turned me off. I had 3 years of extended warranty left and ended up paying $2k out of pocket after they told me to eff off. If anybody wants more details PM me, don't wanna hijack the duck boat thread.

All these duck boats are great, but I hunt big open water shorelines on the coast with nothing but sand. How are these mud motors and gator tails in the sand?? Iíve suction cupped a few hulls to the bottom and Iím not looking for that ever again.

Go with a 8 degree hull or so and you won’t have that issue but surface drives work best on true flat bottoms, sand won’t hurt one any worse than mud will

They are not made for sand. The motor canít dig in the sand and it will chew the prop up in no time.

Correct X2. They suck in coastal sand. Cant get through it, and you will buy a prop or two every season cuz it eats em up quick.

Sand will chew a outboard prop up as well so it’s which ever evil you want to go with. Unless you buy a air boat then your good

Since somebody bumped the thread, here's my new duck boat. Found it for sale last year and jumped on it. Looks just like the old one, little bit bigger and setup nicer.
