A few pictures, one from my canon, the rest from some videos over a spring at the ranch. I also had to work on a sounder thatís been camping out at one of my feeders.

We got just a little over an inch at the lease today. Not bad.

My son killed another hog this morning in the rain.

Filled feeders last weekend. Saw a lot of deer and fawns. Had to put up a pen around some of the feeders because we were told that our landowner is letting someone put 27 head of cattle on our 800 acre place. Managed to get 9 pigs in the trap and my uncle shot one too to make it a 10 pig weekend. Definitely a lot of water on the place. All of the drainage ponds look good full, but man the yard work at camp is kicking out but with everything growing like crazy. Fingers crossed these cattle donít make life hell.

Never mind, we had 1.2Ē in one gauge, and 1.9Ē in the other. Very very thankful. It just goes to show that a mile away can have very different rain totals

Not quite as green around Roosevelt now as it was a month ago, but still in really good shape for July. I killed an axis yesterday . He had layers of fat on him, inside and out. Had layers of ticks on him too though. All that rain and tall grass is good for ticks too.

Had a great time at the ranch in San Saba. Not as pretty and green as a couple of weeks ago, but still really nice for July. Had 3/10th's in the gauge sometimes in the last 2 weeks. Hopefully get a shower or 2 soon. With this heat & wind,it will be dry soon. Killed a pig Fri evening. Been working this group over for awhile. There was 19 at 1st. 3 big sows & 13 little ones. Got it whittled down to 8 eight young ones. Some bucks starting to look really nice now. The deer are hammering protein & the waterers now. Be back up next week to check everything out again.

Thanks, my buddy that owns the land was describing him to me a week or so ago and I stopped him mid-sentence and asked why he wasn't shooting it. He's got a few monsters running around there, so he's holding out for something bigger. This one went 31 and 29 on right and left, so as someone that's never shot an axis buck before, I couldn't be more happy with him.

Glad y’all got some rain! We have missed most of the big rains in our part of the county, but we have been getting steady moisture. These hot days will have everything brown before long.

Nice surprise!! Pulled cards and was greeted with a double droptine. Never have seen one before especially on our small low fence property. We canít tell if this is a new buck or one of our bigger main frames that just decided to grow droptines. Canít wait to see how he turns out

Just got in today from spending time at the ranch in San Saba. Everything is nice & green again for a bit. Last week we were blessed with some good rain. Had 1.3 in. in gauge on gate & 1.9 in gauge at back of property. Talking to my neighbor ,he had about an inch just north of me. Deer are hitting protein hard & waterers about half empty. Arrowed a couple of hogs while there. Mainly just enjoyed some peace & quiet & took it easy. Have a few things I want to get done, but it doesn't take long in the morning to get hot. One of the few trips I actually did relax & enjoy the place instead of working. There are gonna be some Great deer this season in the country. Seeing a lot of really nice bucks. Its amazing to see what super conditions do for the herd. Lots of fawns this year.

Menard County here
This is our 4th season hunting and we have been working on management and supplemental feeding.

With the rain and range conditions, it should be a great season.

The 4th of July week was a fun one. Mother nature is looking good so far.

Might make it out in a week or 2. Hope to get alittle rain in between

Iíve been watching an nice one for a few weeks which is unbelievable. Weíve never seen better than a 10 or 11 pt on our place and surely nothing with antlers like this with so much non-typical growth.

Whatís your opinion on age?

I hate aging other peopleís deer, especially in the summer. Judging by the first picture of his head I think heís at least 4. The other pictures he looks 3-4 to me. Hill country bucks are tough to age.

Hit the lease in Blanco county on Friday and put out 3000 more lbs of protein. Starting to turn brown out there and creeks are drying up. Could stand a little more rain in the next few weeks. Put cams out including a new cell cam so we will see what this years crop looks like soon!

Gillespie County deer bodies are so small. It's hard for me to judge them. I'd guess him at 4 though. Looks like a 2 yr old most other places, but they're so tiny there.

Did you do it yourself or have someone put it up?

Looks great. I'd love to have something small like that at my place.
