Surprised no one has started this years thread yet, so I will get it done!

Anyone been up or going to be doing any turkey hunting this year. Every time I have had the chance to go up, it has been raining.

Would like to check on the lease, pull cameras, change batteries, and get some mineral out.

Hope y'all are well and looking forward to seeing y'alls pictures and hearing the stories.

Went up last weekend to check things out, had TONS of turkey pics. Saw several deer driving around but man was it cold. Heading back up on Good Friday.

Picked up one of these and they are supposed to be bear resistant. Hopefully can get up in the next month or so to put it out and test it.

I'm in!!! Starting to get ready for velvet pics. Trying to make a run up this week to put out more minerals and check a few cameras. Did some work last month in camp. We have a good group of hard works to make this happen!

Should be in Hugo area looking over family property, maybe run some cameras next week. I need to take a weekend and get up to Honobia/Three Rivers to look around. Anyone else hunting the WMA’s this year?

Well we finally got up yesterday to put yo some feeders and drop mineral. Checked and put batteries in all the cameras, along with pulling card some of which didnít get pulled all season. Poor mans clover plot I put in last year is looking good this spring and drawing does and a group of velvet bucks, hope the rains can help it keep up this year as much traffic as itís getting.

Hey guys, been following this thread for several years now. Thought I would go ahead and join in this year. Ive lived and hunted in a lot of the same areas you guys talk about in your threads. I see most of you have been introduced to our ever growing bear and hog problem and some of Kiamichi mountain dark horned age wised mountain deer. Anyways will continue to follow, best of luck to you guys. hit me with any questions you might have about area and I will help where I can.

We are close to there. Lots of construction for wind mills in that area.

Ya I believe that windmill farm is on the west side of lease. ive leased land all over from Antlers to Atoka to Clayton. Have never been east of clayton though. I know there is some pretty good genetics over that way though. And very rough country. I fly in Wednesday and plan on getting some cams out on it this weekend. Pretty excited, love new places to hunt and the challenges that come with it.

We put out a couple feeders, one I built and the other being a one and done feeder. Both are strapped to trees. Need to go up to see how they have held up over the last month. Bears will be really active from now until September or so then hopefully will disappear in October. Thatís my experience up there.

After years of feeding the bears we decided this year not to feed anything but minerals until September. We will see how it works out but I think we will be fine.

I run several bear hunters on this particular lease, only problem is Iíve not taught them to read yet. So they still like to belly up at my deer feeder instead the guys bait barrels.

The bears are getting out of control. 15 years ago it was ďneatĒ to have one on cam. Use to you just had to stay away from corn till mid sept now they donít care protein is just fine with them. I think they will eventually open bear season in September to regulate numbers.

Donít know about the rules on this thing. If I can advertise or not but I could possibly have a opening on one of my leases in push county this year if any of you guys are interested. Cost is a little high for some but I like to keep numbers down on this particular place. Has great genetics. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can give you details.

I wish it was this year, keep a very strict 6 or older management plan in this lease. The bigger one is 6 but Iíve noticed on this piece of property they really pop at seven so he gets a pass. The other one has a few years of growing.

I donít, use to you could just feed protein until October then switch to corn now they donít care they eat cattle feed. I just deal with it. Iíve got some very serious bear hunters on that particular lease and they keep them pretty occupied with the sweets. Those that donít leave die of lead poisoning, very strange.......?

When we were in Snow we just felt with it. Our new place is different there are TONS of bear. We even hung the feeders where they couldn't tear them up, but they just lived under them all summer. So this year we aren't feeding until September. Only minerals.

Hey Guys,

I've been contemplating throwing up a protein feeder. My only hesitation is having coons that can squat a 50# bag of corn by the end of the season. DO y'all find that the coons eat a lot of the protein or is it worth the tradeoff?

Put up some sort of panel/hog fence around feed spot and coons will not wear you out to bad. They are mostly just wasteful rake s+*! Out on the ground then hogs eat it, with something to keep hogs out Iíve noticed the coons do not eat near as much as I thought they were. Yearlings and fawns will clean up what they take out.

Y'all know of anyone looking for a spot on a lease in Push? We have an opening on ours. 450 or so Acres, primitive camping available or Rattan landing is close if you have a camper. We camp or stay at a hotel in Antlers. PM me if you have any questions.
