We just started seeing pigs on our cameras a few months back, but this one looks a little different. It’s not a great pic, but it’s head & body look like a warthog to me. Tail doesn’t look as long as a warthog, but I’ve never seen one in person. Could it be a hybrid?

I would say that you are on to something. Maybe one got out of a HF and bred on of the native hogs

There are warthogs around Carrizo that got out of Jack Brittinghams place. I know a ranch we hunt has them now and I hear stories of them being seem on the CHapparal WMA.

Looks like that hog has good Russian boar genes. Long snout and wire type hair. Not a warthog.

We just had a warthog come in to our local taxidermist. From a ranch near Cotulla. By your picture I would say it sure looks like a warthog.

I have lots of pigs that could be mistaken for a wart hog cross in low light. Truth be told - wart hogs do not breed with feral pigs. I think they are different species.

The other thing is some hogs have light colored hair around their jowls and chin which gives the appearance of something extra. I'll see if I can find a picture of what I'm talking about. I usually just delete pig pictures.

The only reason it looks like a warthog is becouse there is a pole and fence in front of it. Theres really on one of two things needed to meet the criteria for unusual/out of place animal on game cams.
1. Blurry
2. Partially Obstructed.

Pigs are like people...all shapes and sizes. Some with big round heads and short noses, some with very elongated heads & noses. He's just a pig.
