    Kayak D I Y

Really didnt like the idea of cutting a big hole in the top of my kayak, but I'm over it! Now, I have a little more dry storage and hull access if I decide to run wires for lights or transducer or whatever!

That's a nice hatch. Do you have a link for where you got it?

Very sturdy. I like it better than the front hatch that came on the yak from pelican.

Look up 8 inch hatch on Amazon. All kinds of choices. I got the 2 pack for $18

Looks very good. For how easy it really is, and for what you will be charged by a “professional” to do it, DIY is the best way to go. I’ve started doing my own modifications. I just take my time and follow a how-to video to the T

What did you use to cut the hole?

Save that cutout. I'm not certain about ram-x but on roto mold boats like cobra, ocean kayak, malibu, etc., they can be plastic welded when cracked.

Marked the hole with a compass. Poked the first hole with a 5/8" paddle bit. Then I cut out with a cordless jig saw.

Drilled a hole, added a caribeaner so I could clip on a laundry bag (bought at the dollar store) this will keep stuff from sliding down the yak, out of reach. Little ditty bag fits on top!

Hung a laundry bag on the front hatch as well!
