Window film

I have a couple of windows in our new place that face west.
I am looking for a DYI film that blocks the heat
Maybe tinted slightly.

Anybody done this and has some recommendations on product?
We will also have shutters, blinds or something.

I actually used some of the static cling tint on windows in my office. It has held up well for the last three years. The windows are real high and not accessible easily. Purchased at the HD.

Be careful if you have double pane windows. Tint will void your warranty on your windows. It will burst the seals. Solar screens made a difference on our house.

We made solar screens for our south and west facing windows, it's fairly easy to do and well worth doing if you have the time. I'm sure the pro's make them a lot better looking but they look good enough for me.

I was just asking my vehicle window tint guy about this same thing and he said it’ll blow out the seals on double pane glass! He said there is a film that is used that is safe but definitely not auto tint.

Yep. Easily 10° cooler in our rooms on the west side. Worth every penny.
