Dipped & Cerakoted an O/U and Rem 270

I finally got a couple of guns put back together that Greg at Texas Hydrographics dipped for me!

I love duck hunting with an O/U, but didn’t want to spend a ton of money on one that could be used as a boat paddle at some point in its life. So I picked up this Yildiz 12g from HeyMikey a while back. Had everything dipped camo, then had the rest of the metal coated black. Put some after market chokes in it, and polished the internals to take out the “crunchiness”.

Next was an older Remington 700 BDL 270. The action, barrel, and bolt were cerakoted. The stock is just a magpul drop in stock that Greg dipped in a gloss wood finish. Turned out pretty sharo with the contrast of the gloss wood and flat black accents. The only other customization on this rifle is a timney trigger.

Thank you to Greg at Texas Hydrographics

I am not educated on Cerakote. Does the previous finish need to be removed? Example; I have a Remington 700 floor plate that I want to Cerakote, does the factory paint need to be scuffed or removed?

I believe it is lightly sand blasted to get any coating off.

Some say bead blast. Others say you have to do a full abrasive blast to provide enough tooth for the ceracote to adhere. If i can finish a few other projects i have the materials to build a ceracote oven and plan to see which is correct.

I can tell you that light abrasive blast works very well.
