I’m 1.5 days into a 5 day hunt and I am out of tags! We are hunting out of Custer MT with East Slope outfitters and it has been nothing short of spectacular. Sharing camp with some good dudes and just trying to kill some critters.
Yesterday morning 2 hours into the hunt, I was able to punch my goat tag with a beautiful antelope. Dropped him at 340 yards.
This morning, 20 minutes into the hunt we came up on 5 does in a draw of a canyon. We scan the area and see this mulie buck starring watching his ladies 75 yards from them. I take one look and decide he would be an awesome first mule deer! I punched him at 150 yards. He started staggering but didn’t go down, so I thumped him 2 more times. Down he went. Fell 20’ to the bottom of the draw.
It has been a whirlwind of emotions the last 4 days. Health problems for my dad that have turned out good and now some beautiful Montana animals. The rest of the week we will try and get my buddy a mulie and possibly hunt some pheasant, ducks and geese.
Montana is a special place!
