Need some help on camera and video choices.

I have been out of the loop for a while and my camera video camera are dated. Can you give some good brands and models for hand held cameras and video cameras? I know the technology has improved drastically in the last 10 years. Your input and advice is much appreciated.

I can probably make some recommendations, but with cameras, like many things, it all depends on your primary use of it, and your budget.

Sort of like asking "what's the best gun?" You'll get a ton of different choices depending on whether you're wanting to bird hunt, or hunt big game, or just plink cans. And whether your budget is $500 or $5000.

You can get a nice DSLR that also does video. Two birds one stone.

sony a5100 is very small, light, and has more functions than most would need.

The video is 1080p instead of 4k if you care about that sort of thing.

Great selection of lenses and accessories.

They have newer models, but these are very affordable for what you are getting.
