One of the greatest admirable qualities in a young man is drive and the willingness to work hard. However, I’ve learned that those who work smart and can sell out win those who just continue to sweat.

What if he came up with a business model and thought about if he had additional pieces of equipment he could increase his productivity and also increase his product offering (i.e. an xcarve CNC router). If he came up with a solid plan, I’d for one be willing to make a small investment into his plan. He could simply increase the quality/quantity of his products and diversify his product offering. With increased profits he could repay the investors (personally I’d do it interest free). This would be a great lesson in being an entrepreneur with relatively low risk and the potential for great increases in profit for his small business.

Lots of work put in when he got back from church tonight. He’s got all staining done for 4 American flags and has started on his first Texas flag. He’ll get them assembled tomorrow morning and start on the stars

                Thanks Dale!

When he’s motivated, this kid always goes all in. Plays football and baseball with passion and now this. I’m super proud how he’s taking to this and fulfilling his commitments to all the folks that have ordered one. He’s not waiting on me to get home. He’s getting to it and calling/texting me if he has a question.

4 flags glued and nailed today before baseball practice. He’s in the garage working on the stars now. I picked up a star stencil for the Texas flags today. He’ll get the Texas flag stain finished tonight and carve the star tomorrow. Making lots of progress!

He'll have to use a sword instead of razor blades for the Texas flag!

Well, Joe got all the stars carved and sanded on one flag tonight. He had to do a second coat of blue stain on the Texas flag and got the red stained as well. Assemble the Tx flag tomorrow and outline and carve the star. Then back to Dremel work on the stars for the other 3 American flags. Hopefully he’ll have them all clear coated and done by Saturday morning, then back to the lumber yard for more wood for the next set.

Been busy and haven’t had a chance to post. He finished his first five flags. I’ll be delivering these to their owners this week. The “prototype “ at the beginning if the post took approximately 18 hours to make. He started these five on Tuesday and put the last coat of clear on them Saturday afternoon. Reduced the time to make down to roughly one per day and they look better than his first one!

He’s still working on streamlining the process and is going to try to make 7 this week. He’ll make a lumber run in the morning and then get to work.

Very proud of the way my son has taken on this endeavor!

Well my son has been busy knocking these flags out as fast as he can. I delivered 7 this week and two more to deliver tomorrow. He’s opened his own checking account and is really doing well with this. First baseball tournament was this weekend and football strength and conditioning starts Monday. I’m out of town next week and he already has a plan to get 5 more completed in between football and baseball. Super proud of this kid!!
