So the checks are not as great a Trump makes it sound. Jus an advance on 2020 tax return. Alot of people will be owing the government next year.

Next year, if you got 800 now based on 2018 tax returns, when you file 2020 and it is determined that you should've received 1200, then they will pay you the difference,400.
