Not hearing anyone saying they are going with 6.5 Creedmoor. No longer the sexy new round? I’m not one to jump on new cartridges, but it’s obvious the 6.5 isn’t new anymore and it’s not going anywhere, so it’s time for me to get one.
Just not sure on barrel length. I have 16 and 18” 308s, but I’m thinking the 6.5CM needs at least 22”. I want to get the performance of the round, but still want to keep it short enough not to be cumbersome with a suppressor. Any recs from anyone? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's what mine is. I feel 22 is the perfect compromise between velocity and handling when running a suppressor.
I too seem to have noticed the creed may be reaching market saturation. That and the new 65 prc has people really excited as of today. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk |

Robert, what length barrel and twist rate would you recommend for a tier 2 in 6.5prc? I do not plan on using a can.

I saw your 6.5prc AI was 1-7.5, but all your 6.5 PRC seem to be 1-8, so I went 1-8. Shouldni have considered 7.5?

Robert, do y'all have specific few cerakote colors y'all offer? Or is it all of their colors available? The choices are overwhelming.

My first 7.5 was a standard 4 groove and was really hard on the 150's and 147's. I was blowing up jackets pretty often. Muller created a modified land profile and the problem is now solved, but it took a while. Pretty cool to have 4-groove accuracy that's easy on jackets like a 5R. ![]() I'm still running a couple of modified 7.5's and having good luck personally, but we ended up running a bunch of 8's while all of that was being worked out. Really did not see a downside to the 8's up to the 147 class bullets when it was all said and done. |

Robert, I ordered a 1/8 twist in my Tier 1, 20" barrel 7mm-08. Is this going to be satisfactory? I intend to shoot either the 140 or 150 gr Nosler Partition.

It's more than you "need" for those bullets, but it will still work absolutely great. There are several benefits to running more than the minimum twist rate in most cases, especially for hunting. There is obviously a point where it can become "too much", but you aren't anywhere near that with 140s at 7-08 velocities. I would have absolutely chosen an 8 twist if I was building it for myself.

Just ordered mine. Tier 1, 7-08, 20” barrel with 1:9 twist.
To the other guys that ordered 20” 7mm barrels, what twist did you get? I was told in order to meet the minimum order of 5 to do the shorter barrel that they also need to be the same twist rate. |

Is there any drastic difference that I should be aware of? |

Just ordered a 6mm CM "little man bun", 22”, 1:7.5. Plain carbon (tier 1) no camo, with burnt bronze trim.
I love the 6.5 CM and will keep using it when the goal is to get an animal on the ground asap, but it’s proven to be more hp than needed when the focus is on meat preservation (e.g. whitetail and pigs). I looked carefully at .243, 6 Dasher, 25-06, and several others, and worked backwards from the bullet I wanted to use - in the range of the 103gn eld-x @ 2900-3000fps. It’s interesting how different the .243 is from the 6CM in real applications based on twist/bullet selection. The 6 Dasher is exciting but has some less practical aspects as a hunting round given my level of reloading/gunsmithing. |

I thought about a 20" PRC but after talking to several folks and looking at ballistic tables with a 20" barrel your basically going to have a creedmore with the loss in velocity with the short barrel. I ordered a 20" 308. |

Robert,
Just placed an order for my 1st custom rifle, tier1 in 300wm 24" barrel. I plan to reload 212gr eldx. Would I be better off specifying a longer freebore with the above bullets or should I stick with saami spec? |

Standard SAAMI spec is "zero"freebore. I have seen plenty of folks running 215's in SAAMI chambers successfully. All factory loads will be set up to run in that chamber, so you can be confident it will work. That said, I do have a reamer set up with .187" freebore specifically for the heavies, but I can't guarantee it will work with an un-modified mag box.

I went with the 24 inch despite having my mind made up that I wanted no more than 22. Garrett was pretty adimit about me going 24. Understand that’s optimal performance for that round so I went with it.

On the 20” barrels what other choices are good that maintain velocity like the 7mm-08?
I like the 7mm-08. So if needing a 5th person I’d be in. I want to go suppressed also. So the 20 inch sounds good. Where go you look to see what calibers are available in 20 inch? |

I was in the same boat...I already have an APR 7-08 in a 20” with a can for my son. It is such a blast to shoot, that I decided I needed one for myself. I was planning on going 6.5 prc and having custom loads made, but was talked into a 6.5 creed (never thought I would ever say that, ha). For 20” I would personally go with 7-08 if I didn’t already have one. The tier 1 6.5 will be a fun shooter though. You could also go 308. |
