Have you tried the Arizona EZ Fletch? I have 2 and love them, I can glue all three fletchings at one time. Can probably fletch a dozen arrows within an hour easily, once you get the hang of it. But it still is sticky...

Nope I haven't tried it. I though about getting one but the one I have won't break so i am going to stick with it for now. Actually if I get another fletching jig it will be something that does 4" vanes and larger. I would like to do another write up using the larger vanes with a different configuration or feathers.

How long did you wait for the glue to dry before you shoot it?

I wait until the next day. Probably overkill but it hasn't failed me yet. Like TallTexan said also a dot of glue on the front and back of each fletching is a good idea.

Same process I use but I'm having a hard time getting my fletches to stay on my A/C/C's. Some of them glue on real tight and some come off after a few shots. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I had the same thing on a few on the first try. I made sure I cleaned them really well after that and rinsed them with warm soapy water after that. I also went and bought some new glue and I haven't had any issues since then. Good luck.

I have a question for any one about arrow fletching
Arrow fletching is a time consuming process to do correctly and flecthing at a pro shop is costly. What do think about NAP quik fletch system? I'm short on time and money and these wont be for my quality arrows they are for my crossbow bolts, I got them at a yard sale and they need to be reflecthed. |

I can't even remember. I have had it for a while. One time the part that holds the fletching in place warped but I contacted bohning and they replaced it for free. It wasn't very expensive. The only thing I don't care for is that you can only use the blazer vanes.

Great info thanks for the post! Always new stuff to learn in the hunting world! Was hopeing someone here could answer a question about sights. I just go a new trophy ridge 5 pin sight for my mathews drenalin and i set it up to the same length away from the riser that my last sight was and it has like 3-4 inches hanging off the back of the riser. There are 5 sets of holes for the bolts to screw it into the bow i dont really like how that looks and was wondering if it really mattered how close the sight was and if so would it be bad to cut the access off. Thanks for any info in advance!

The holes are there to adjust the distance from the riser. Som people gave a hard time focusing on objects close up. I've heard the further from the riser the pins are, the easier it is to focus on them. Also it helps to balance the weight of the bow. gets more weight out front if you want it. IMO you wouldn't want to cut the excess off, that would basically destroy the value of the sight. Move the sight out some more. Play with the distance. You may like it. It want change anything about how the bow is sighted in. Hope this helps

Great write up! I do this minus the wrap. May have to try it with a wrap. Might make arrows easier to spot on or off the target. More time shooting..less time walking

I've been fletching my own arrows for a couple years now. Doing it exactly this way. The only thing that I do different is find the heavy size of the arrow first. I do that using the bathtub and little soap and water, and a lead pencil. I can't remember where I read the article, but it was about the topic of Archers Paradox. The moment you release, the arrow actually flexes and bows for a split second from all the pressure. If you determine the hard side of the arrow, and always put the cock vane on the adjacent 90° side, you'll create arrows that will fly very similar. Therefore making tighter groups. Archers Paradox. Read up on it. It's helped me out alot. Besides, if your fletching your own, you may as well take it to that next level...right?

Noticed a question about glue distribution on the vanes. I apply glue to the vane..and then I use a flat toothpick perpendicular to the length of the vane and gently drag the toothpick the length of the vane..it applies the glue to the entire length/width of the vane and prevents a lot of "runoff" I guess you would call it. I have found that too much glue is just as bad as no enough and I really hate seeing my arrows with globs of glue at the vanes. Thought I would pass this lil tip on.
