The govt will essentially make your guns useless
You either hide them away and never use them, pay massive tax or turn them in.
The scenario is if you are caught with a gun on the list it’s then confiscated which means where are you going to use it? No more gun range, you risk losing it if you take it hunting, they become keep sakes at the risk of a felony. It will be a slow but effective process never mind the tax and availability of ammo that will be an issue.

We have to stop with this “it will never happen” mentality

Seems pretty straight forward, but they can't seem to grasp it...

I hear where you are coming from, but I think it's more likely to become a no enforcement situation. We have already seen it in the past with local sheriffs coming out and saying that they wont comply with unconstitutional laws. No doubt there will be police departments that will, but I think they will be outnumbered by ones that wont 10 to 1. Their tactics will change drastically once gun owners take a stand. That's just my opinion. Hopefully it gets squashed by scotus before any of it comes into play.

And how are they gonna know if your guns are unregistered if they don't know you have them......?

If the Constitution is adhered to, this should never happen.

The right to self protection should not be withheld from people with lower incomes.

They will just collect all those 4473 forms from the dealers. Won’t get all the guns but a lot
of them. Won’t take long at that time to track down the resold ones.

Being that it is illegal for the government to possess a firearms registry...which I believe they do anyway, they should know. Connecticut numbers are estimated at only 15% of owners registered when they made it a state law. New York was way lower with an estimated 1 million that werent registered. What will Texas numbers look like?

Ok let’s just assume they are only able to institute a tax
                Are you going to pay?
Because tax evasion is probably the worse crime you can commit in terms of consequences. And It’s simple to enforce all they do is make you prove you have paid your tax prior to buying any ammo, including ammo reloading items, for that particular gun. Unless you have a never ending supply of ammo which most people don’t it will eventually lead to either paying up or turning some in. Otherwise they are just safe queens.

Put yourself in their shoes, be devils advocate and think about how easy it would be to accomplish their goal.

Don’t forget how they went after the banks that many of the gun shops and manufacturers were using during the Obama years essentially penalizing any bank that lent money to anything guns
They will have a ton of resources and trust me when I say the people that will be pushing this would literally die to accomplish their agenda.

Listen guys, I’m on y’alls side, but everything y’all are saying seems to be negating the Supreme Court.

i hear what you are saying but there is nothing unconstitutional about taxing or putting restrictions on banks that finance the gun industry.
my point is we can't just sit back and say it will never happen because of the constitution. The only reason it hasn't happened yet is because the democrats never had the real appetite to do it and they had a little respect for the constitution. The people about to role into the white house absolutely have the appetite and fervor and they hate the constitution.

Oh, I totally agree. But weren’t we not extremely pleased with Trump getting 3 justices on the SC? To what end would we be happy about that, assuming the SC wouldn’t uphold the 2nd?

Okay, let me explain it to you this way. IF biden gets in and makes an executive order declaring a $200 tax for each gun that includes registering the gun, and you decide to not pay/register. A GW checks you at your car, and as required by the EO, checks your shotgun's serial number and determines this gun is not registered. He now hauls you off for being in possession of an unregistered gun and failure to pay the tax. What are you going to do about it?

exactly....this is all speculation until scotus actually weighs in on a gun control case.

I will give you my point as LE. This would be the breaking point- the push that would make people fight back. It will not be something that gets attacked until other Constitutional Rights have been stripped. You don’t go after what is most cherished. Speech and Assembly will be taken away before firearms.

I have taken guns from people that do not have the ability to have them. I have called family members of elderly when they become dangerous and I feel their ability is not there.

It is every persons Right to own a firearm - it just becomes sticky when a persons mental state gets to a point that they start to become dangerous for their loved ones. It is the hardest thing I have ever done in Law Enforcement- it’s also hard to show up on a scene when someone who’s mental state has slipped and they shoot their son because of it. At one time I was on the fence about Red Flag rules- But with the idiots running and making the decisions it is a horrible idea. It will be abused and people’s rights will be tread on.

I don’t know any LE that would strip a gun owner of their firearm- I’m not saying there are not some that would but not in my circle and it’s pretty big.

With all that said We The People need to cherish and never give up any rights, Liberty, or freedoms. Do not let your neighbor be tread on.

Oh I get it. My argument is that I dont see them enforcing the law.
