Anyone have any suggestions on a place between Victoria and Benavides to pick up the 1000# super bags? I know of a Gin outside Sinton but they close at 4pm I think and not open on Saturdays.
Bought a 1000# bag for $275 at a feed store outside Benavides back in April. Filled 6 feeders and expected it to last about 8 weeks. Nope, it was all gone in 6 weeks. Went back to the same feed store and paid $315 OUCH!! I've known this family for close to 30 years and they are good people but dang that's a bit of a jump.
On our place water seems to be the key. On the spots that had water troughs the deer attacked the cottonseed. The one spot without water they still ate but at a much slower pace. I don't see anything but deer eating the cottonseed. Coons, hog and even javalina dont touch it.... so far.

Our basket feeders will get emptied in less than 5 days on average. They are 49" wire, +/- 24" diameter.

I asked the cost the other day at Muy Grande and it was $325+/-
Also check with the Co-op in Orange Grove or The Post Outfitters also in OG.

Don't know status of co-op, but worth a call

Might check the gins around and see if they can sell you a super sack or two... More cottonseed and cheaper / pound that bagged...

Not sure who else might be looking for the 1000# bags but I found a few places that have them. All these places are south so might not be too helpful to those out west.
Hartendorf Gin outside Sinton told me they had a bunch @ 230 per bag
The Co-Op in Orange Grove told me that stopped carrying them. Too hard to find.
Coastal Plains Gin outside Mathis had 1 @ 220 which I bought. He is trying to get more but it's hard to find with the drought.
Brick's Hardware in Benavedis has some at 280 per bag.
The take away I got from all the places I called is that buik cottonseed is getting hard to find and with the drought it will only get worse. Several places told me that their local farmers are plowing under their cotton crops because they are all dying in the field.
