Default DIY Cabin build

Local lumber supply was out of the tongue & groove so I finished up all the insulation today. Was just doing a room at a time because thatís about all i can stand of that mess!
Put my front door handle on, narrowed the rough in framing on a both closet doors also because I ended up with 24Ē bi-fold doors and not 30Ē due to supply issues, & added a bunch of nailers in a few corners and along the vaulted ceiling for the tongue & groove ends to nail too.

I reckon if i canít get lumber for tomorrow Iíll mount the mini splits and run the lines then start on the electrical pig tails and installing breakers.

Got some more tongue and groove finally and finished the master bedroom and closet. Started on the spare room/ laundry.

In case anyone is wondering, yes I could order all the tongue and groove at once but itís #2 pine and about 10% of it is warped or cracked, so I pick through it as it comes in and get the good stuff. Rather than deal with a bunch of junk to return.

Looks great, might end up doing my own cabin too since I love to build. One problem, I'm a perfectionist and it will take me forever. Hang in there.

What are you gonna use in the end of that wall near the washer and dryer? Like a cedar or pine 1x6?

Knotty pine, all the trim and door casings will be pine. 1x4 for the base crown and door casing and Iíll rip 1x6s to fit for the windows, barn doors, that end cap ect.

Default DIY Cabin build

Thanks everyone
Feeing 90% myself today so I went out and finished the T&G in the bunk room, ran A/C lines and mounted the 3 minisplits.

The one is the living room is mounted on 2 pieces of tongue and groove I laid out to fit from the adjacent wall. Since the units 10Ē tall and 2 boards are too, it was smartest/easiest way I could leave access to the lines in case of leak when I pressure test them. The other two are installed on interior walls and the back side of those walls are still not covered.
The rest of the wood will tuck in behind and above/below nicely with a little finesse. Out side unit is wired up as well. The condensate lines will be ran into insulated 1Ē PVC dropped out the walls and ran over to the edge and drained outside the under pinning.

As soon as i get power Iíll pressure test, vac line sets and be ready work in the cool!

Wired in the AC this morning, pressure tested the line sets, pulled vacuum on them and released the cold stuff. Fired right up and it sure is nice to be working in a climate controlled cabin now!!

Started wrapping up the home runs to breaker box, just need to pick up the rest of the breakers.
Got one more wall finished in the living area, 3 more to go and the vaulted ceiling and that finish the T&G

Very nice. I’m in the process of building one myself, but instead of building from ground up, I started with a 16x34 Derksen building with lofts. It’ll be our temporary home while we’re building our house, and then will serve as a weekend house when we’re done.

Finished the breaker panel, all the lights and 75% of the outlets. Didnít feel like working on the walls so I got ahead on the electrical work.
Pressure tested the gas line and powered up the water heater also. Getting closer.

Knocked out both vaulted walls today.. one wall left and the ceiling. Hopefully have all that done this week, that ceiling is going to be tough by myself.

Killed 196# last night with my 6.8 & thermal and got to enjoy the night view.

If your wife or anybody else is available, let them use a long extension roller pole with a rubber chair foot on the end. I installed over 3000sf like that. My wife never complained cause she wanted beadboard.
Or work from the center of your board out, itlll pretty much hold itself.
Good luck and your place looks awesome.

I have some little helpers i made. Basically two 10Ē pieces with a small pieces sandwiched in one end. Slip it over the boards to the next one and it holds it for you while you get the tongue and groove seated.

Started on the ceiling and then decided i better start brush hogín and prepping for food plots. This rain really made the grass and weeds grow!

Next days off Iíll finish the ceiling and try and knock out the cabinets and trim work.

Looking great. I'm sure there are some jealous watchers on here. Wished I could start one for my own. Love that tongue and groove wood. I hate sheetrock, I know it covers fast and is cheap but I just like the look of wood. Keep the pics coming.
