Looks like a BW to me but I haven’t teal hunted in over a decade!

        Just a lifetime tidbit…..

The first duck I ever killed was a full plumage male Cinnamon Teal.

50 years and hundreds of ducks later, I have never killed another one.

I have a similar story. My first duck hunt ever, I got to go with my dad and my uncle. The hunt was slow and we didn’t kill anything. When going back to the trucks I saw a duck in the canal. He was wounded and couldn’t fly. They let me shoot him with my single shot 20g. That is the first duck I shot, and the only cinnamon. I still remember that “hunt” like it was yesterday, but it’s been over 30 years ago.

You can usually tell by comparing the bill to a bluewing teal's bill. The cinnamon teal's bill will be larger than a bluewing's bill.

The pic isn't great for identification purposes but just from what I can see it looks like a rusty colored bluewing to me. I might think otherwise if I could see some other angles but from what I see there I'd say it's likely a BWT.

My first thought is it is a blond phased BWT. But on 2nd thought it could be a young CT in juvenile plumage. But I have never seen a juvenile that blonde. Need a few more angles especially the bill
