I've fished many years and caught several limits of slot reds, some over size but I've never caught a true Bull Red fish.
Some of you may remember Danny Eveans, "Wildman". He doesn't post here anymore. Anyway he'd been posting pics of Bull Reds he was catching on Facebook. I commented that a big Bull was a bucket list fish for me.
He told me that he thought that was a pretty easy one to check off and invited me to come down for a weekend.
We put a plan in place, it took about a month for me to get things in order to break free. We did it this past weekend. Checked that off this list multiple times over. I lost count but I think I caught 8 bulls Saturday.
We went back out for a quick trip Sunday morning before I had to head back home and caught a 29" that I tagged to eat.
Of course it wouldn't be a fishing trip without a story of the one that got away. I hooked into a giant black drum Sunday and he broke off when we got it to the boat. It was the biggest fish of the weekend.
