I've got a 12' single axle ranch king trailer and it is time to replace the tires. I believe they are 205x75x15. I don't mind spending coin for good tires (piece of mind and all). What brand does TBH recommend?

For whats its worth, I was told the other day from a trailer guy that you can run whatever on a single axle trailer, trailer or small truck tires. However, a dual axle trailer needs actual trailer tires because the way they are designed to run together and turn. He wasn't a salesman by any means but I thought it was an interesting thing.

It could be the stress of push and pull placed on the sidewalls of tires on a tandem trailer during a turn. Specifically a tight turn where the two tires placed close to each other are fighting each other during the turn. A trailer tire sidewall is designed for these stresses where a regular tire is not. That being said we have run many sets of tires which were taken off of new trucks (replaced with mud grips) on lighter tandem trailers with no issues. I would imagine it is a bigger issue with extra heavy loads.

You can run any tire you want on a trailer, single or double axle as long as you take the tires/rims in. If you take the trailer in, it will get trailer tires, no question. I had that told to me at Wally World and Discount and IF the rims are over a certain age, get ready to buy rims also. More than one tire store told me that, not just soley Discount. The deal with whatever tire on a single axle and trailer tires on a dual axle has me buffaloed also. True on the sidewalls getting put to the test with a heavy load and a tight turn on a dual axle trailer.
