    What's the catch?

I was at bass pro today and a fella there tried to get me to buy a vacation package for 129$. All he asked was that while on the weekend get away we go to their resort for a 2 hour presentation. I assumed this was time share. If you did fulfill the 2 hour commitment they throw in an 800$ cruise or 50 dollar gift card for going, and then youd have 18 months to book the cruise. I was walking away and he offered to throw in a 50 dollar gift card to bass pro or the connected steak house. That brings my total out of pocket to 79 dollars. So my big question is what's the catch. If u did it, would I regret it and besides the 2 hour time share presentation, what else would it cost me?!

Timeshare presentation's are beatings, good luck actually collecting the "prize" unless you buy in!

YOU are the catch. They are trying to reel you in. Probably wouldn't cost you any additional money but you will be pressured the whole time to purchase what they are selling.

We did the whole time-share thing when we went to a resort for a free excursion and it was a pain in the butt. It was only supposed to last 2 hours and end up closer to 4 and then they bugged the crap out of you.
Might be worth all the hassle for a fully paid vacation, but guessing there's a catch in there too.

Yeah they say 2 hours, double that. High pressure sales it's really annoying I wouldn't do it again.

If you have to think about how you are getting a deal, you are probably not getting a deal. Would probably be less hassle to just pay for a normal vacation.

Big Cedar Lodge. They’ll waste about half your day with the presentation and you’ll get a gift card, no cruise without purchase. Still not a bad deal. We went, stayed 2 days that were included then added a 3rd night at the promo rate.

You’d have to jump through hoops to get the vouchers for the promised gifts

FIL has done OK with free nights in a few cities with those. He drove cross country at the time so travel cost was not much. We sat through one in Vegas. Knew what it was but figured why not, it was early and I needed the hangover to pass. Started out saying we would "look at rooms at the Cosmo". Ummm yeah, was an hour long presentation at the Jockey Club behind it. Wife was entertaining, kept asking questions they couldn't answer about how the points worked, availability of rooms. She asked how many rooms had the good Bellagio view, guy literally said everyone on this side. Can't make it up. Price Started at like 10k, down to 8 instantly. 6 if you want the 45 year option not life time. Our sales guy got down to $3600. Had to tell the manager no to the $1800 he could offer. In the end got $200 in show ticket credit, $100 voucher to a casino the size of my house, and some random coupons. We saw zoomanity with the credits, so in the end I got to see a decent show and some boobs for free. You can do that walking the strip without losing 2.5 hours of your day. Hope that made you laugh, what you deal with on $129 trip wont. Cruise will be out of some port you pay crazy money to fly to, and an interior room etc. You should pass IMHO.

Thabks fellas. I figured it was the pressure that would be my headache and contemplated putting up with it for the free weekend and cruise. Dont think I want to now tho!

How do those place afford to give you all those incentives? Do they really pressure that many people into signing up?
