Another Great Mornin chasing teal. Hunted Garwood again. Hunting must be better this season, lots of hunters out for a Tues. Me & Junie watched a nice sunrise & iced it with a limit of teal. Must be quite a few greenwings down. Half of my birds were greenies today & we had some sun.

What a blessing to chase teal every day during the season. Glad to see some habitat on the prairie. Congrats and thanks for sharing ! Sub-gage shotguns are the best.

This annual thread snd Clay’s turkey on in the spring are fantastic.

Thanks for swift shotgun transaction and nice to meet you. I got 5 near East Bernard this morning. They shut off like a switch at 7 and didn't see much after. Guys at Altair area property were out at 7 with 2-man limit.

Another great day on the prairie, but did have several hiccups. Decided to put up a portable blind in the middle of flat thinking birds would work better. I took the 410 today. 1st mistake. I think it spooked them more. 2nd mistake not checking to make sure the shells worked in gun. Went from a 3 shot to single shot. Boss shells were hanging in chamber after firing. Could only get 1 shot IF the flock got in to 20 yrds or less. Had to let most flocks go ,because they wouldn't work in. Took till 9;45 before I got last one in range. 2 times the dang cows came into the flat. Had to run them off. I HATE cows. They came back a total of 3 times directly downwind about 100 yards. 2 times had flocks bank around only to swing wide of lousy cows. I HATE COWS!!! All in all I couldn't think of a place on earth I would rather have been other than the marsh.

The beginning of a new day!!!

Having to work that many groups of teal to get in to 20 yards sounds like fun. I love teal hunting, but sometimes the limited out by 730 thing is a little unfulfilling.

Private right now. If no birds here I hunt public. 90% of my duck hunting is on public though.

Did you break out the red rider this AM since the single shot 410 was too easy? Or just going with a hand thrown rock ?

Looking forward to the report.

LOL on Red Ryder!!

Another great day on the Garwood prairie! 70 degrees & nice cool wind. A recipe for a great morning.
Birds were in thin supply today. don't know if the steady NE wind moved them or what. Didn't even see many in the air. Luckily what was around worked perfectly. Another 410 day ,but with 2 shots today. LOL! There were several big groups of hunters well south of me pounding steady. Hopefully a few more move in for the family this weekend. One thing I have noticed is almost all the birds I have killed have no rice in their craw and only a few rolling in fat like they get after being here a while. Lots of skinny birds, which I have heard means they are new birds.

Mornin comin on!

A Happy pup!!

We have seen the same thing on the skinny birds. Winnie and Anahuac are doing pretty good. Opener was the slowest.

At least no zero. Can't wait till tomorrow. Got the Wife, son & a college buddy of his going. Always a Great time!
