Man 3 days was a grind! We finished in 9th place. Really happy considering how things went all weekend! I will update more later! Looking back I would have done things differently and done a little better but that's everybody. That said you could give me a month on that lake right now and I couldn't put together a 21 fish 31 pound stringer! Mike and Tony stomped us all! It was an awesome experience!! Made enough money to pay for the weekend and the top 25 are already qualified for next year! We will be back! Gonna fish some ACT and a few crappie masters next year. Hung out with some super crappie anglers all weekend. Greneda is next on my bucket list! Gonna fish there next spring for sure!!

Default 2019 Crappie thread!!

Some pics from the weekend. My phone is lousy so I didn't take many!!

Hanging out backstage on day 3 waiting on top 10 to weight.

Walleye I caught shooting a dock!!

Camera crew interview beginning of day 3!

Police escort from the ramp to Hot Springs convention center! I need this every day I go fishing!!!

The whole experience was awesome! Looking forward to next year!! Texas teams did good! I think there was 7-8 in the top 25.

Couple more!! Weighing on stage with walk up music and all was cool!! I could get used to that!

Final standings from championship Sunday.

If you would have told me we wouldn't have caught 7 crappie all 3 days on Wednesday I would have called you a liar. The generation on Sunday threw me for a loop though. That's something I've never dealt with. 2 of my best 4 docks were under a creek channel and it was flowing like crazy Sunday and washed those 2 out. Leaned a lot on this one. You don't learn much when you hammer em. You learn from struggle!!

Congrats, enjoyed following along. Sounded like a typical crappie trip of mine. I've been on that lake numerous times but never fished for crappie. Lots of big powerboats. There was a liquor store on one of the islands, thought that was interesting...

Good job ya'll!!! I'm on Fork for 3 days this week! Man I'm ready for that! Friday sounds western with 25 MPH NW winds, thunderstorms, and temps in the 40's but what else is new! Mother nature knows when there's a crappie tournament going on!

Lmao! Can't say I did! Did have a dang good Reuben at the Ohio Club though! And a walleye dinner at the Red Oak Filling Station! I'd do both of those again if we go back next year! Pouty the state championship is only one day now. Guess I'm going to work in the am. Still playing catch up from being gone a week!

Lake Fork showed out today! We had blast and put some money in our pockets!! Was so fun to just stomp fish on timber all day'. I have Wednesday and next weekend open. $300 1/2 day for 2 people. Timber is as good as it's gonna get right now. Fun times!

I had Brodie Morrison out today with his son. That boy could catch fish. We caught them on brush in 15 to 20 foot of water. We tried standing timber and found fish but couldn’t get them to bite. All fish caught on minnows.

Any news on Rayburn? Went to Limestone last weekend and caught a few but had a problem finding brush. Have a pretty good set up now with the boat, Elite 9 ti2 on the back and hook2 5 on the front. Sidescan working real nice but still gotta spend a good bit of time finding brush. Wanna find a lake that has a decent amount of brush on it

LOP had me worried today.
Every fishing guide starts the day a little worried. Did the fish move, can I find them . Will they bite. Then you catch a few fish, relax and enjoy the day with new found friends.
2 hours into our trip this morning we had 3 fish in the boat.... 3
There we were head down in a pouring rain, cold north rain with 3 fish.
Then the wind turned out of the south, the sun broke out and 3 hours later David and his pretty wife had 50 in the boat. At one time She was catching them so fast I was just throwing them in the bottom of the boat as I couldn’t get them on ice and back to her fast enough.

All fish caught in 15 to 20 foot of water on brush piles using minnows.

Somebody please tell me what Im doing wrong.

Got to Rayburn around 9:30am. Launched boat. Went to a pile I had found previously ( everyone knows about ) near the launch. Dropped about 10-12ft deep. Minnows. Caught 2 within maybe 20 min. Didnt catch any more for a while so moved to another couple of piles. Nothing. Went to the bridge. Dropped a minnow straight down the pillars, anywhere from 10 -14 ft deep. Over an hour and caught a little bass and a few nibbles. Went from pillar to pillar with trolling motor. Gave that up and went to some timber on main lake. Dropped straight down against trees. Nothing. Tree to tree. No bites. Went back to cove near marina and found more brush. Nothing.

Minnows are lively. Dropping anywhere from 10 to 14' down. Using 6lb test, 12' jigging rod. I let it sit still then sometimes jig it up and down. I just cant figure out what Im doing wrong.

Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. Sometimes you just gotta stay on the move to find active fish. Yesterday morning was tough for us. I figured we would be cleaning 50 by 10am and get home to watch football all day! Lots of inactive fish everywhere we went. Loaded the boat with small fish and a few scattered hogs. Finally told little man lets put these long rods up and pull out the dock shooters! Never have to twist his arm there. It was on after that! No tournament fish but it sure is fun!! I think the clouds and fog and lack of wind yesterday morning had em scattered some. Yesterday afternoon probably could have fished the same stuff and sacked em up good!! That's what keeps me coming back!!

I figured the docks would be too shallow? How long do you stay at a spot without a bite before you move? I just watched a video posted today by camoriver guide service on Rayburn ( assuming was made very recently ) and they caught 3 limits before 1pm....brushpiles.

Not all docks are created equal!! I stay somewhere about 2 minutes without a bite before I move. Sometimes I move even when I'm getting bites! That was the case yesterday. Catching Several fish just wasn't happy with the size so we kept moving!!

Sounds like I need to move more. Should I be able to see fish with the Elite ti2? I can see what I think are larger fish on the downscan, but not side scan. Can definitely see pods of shard etc

I am happy if I catch enough for a sandwich or two...always fun to fish with dad and his puppy got her first boat ride. She fell in about about 30 seconds in! After that she had it all figured out!

We only managed a few on standing timber. About 16' fow right off the bottom. Bridge didn't give up any crappie.

Default 2019 Crappie thread!!

It's been over a week since I've been fishing but after watching little man hunt all weekend I'm kinda thinking more about the deer lease than I am the crappie! Still gonna get out pretty soon. They're calling my name! In other news this blew my mind! He's one heck of a spider rigger. Not so much for single pole fishing. Has won countless tournaments and championships. Wonder if he cheated in those as well. Shame they didn't prosecute. That's some big money for poor rednecks like me!

Gotta wonder how many of these he didn't deserve! He's pretty Much banned as far as tournament angling is concerned. Sponsors have dropped him like a rock! I'm ready for next year! Gonna fish Grenada at least twice! Nothing wrong with that!!

That's a plain down right shame on him.

On another note; I may drag the boat out of the back yard this weekend. And get it parked in the driveway ready to roll.

You healed up yet? I think I'm going to Fork in the morning. About the only place I can go fish where I want to with 10-15mph N winds! Palestine and Pines is out for where I want to go! Hopefully there's still a fish or two I can find on Fork!
