    Spike buck question

During the late season for spike and doe only, does a spike have to have both sides to be unbranched or just one side has to be unbranched? Meaning can a buck be a 5 point on one side and the other side be just a spike?

I think during late season you can only shoot a true spike. Unbranched antler on both sides

Not according to TPWD unless it varies by county:

"Special Late Season During the Special Late Season, harvest is restricted to antlerless deer and unbranched antlered bucks. An unbranched antlered buck is any buck deer with an antler having no more than one point."

An unbranched. Not both unbranched. Same as rest of the seasons.

NO they changed it a few years ago, thats why they changed the name to special late season, it used to be called late antlerless spike season.

                  Incorrect.

1 unbranched antler is all that’s required. It can have multiple points on the other side

A few years ago they did change from a true spike buck to one unbranched. The season after one of our "members" shot an illegal one on my lease on a doe hunt...

You can get a grinder and some shoe polish, rub a little dirt on the ground off point and make one side slick.....
                          Just kidding!!!!!

Make sure that one side is not broke off with the 5 on the other side
