Im in the "wait for the dog" camp. Going into the area to look around at sunrise isn't going to do anything besides throw off the dog. I understand it's been a long, brutal wait, but another hour will be worth it. Hope y'all find him, good luck.

If its a decent dog, it will have no effect. Not understanding this. The deer is likely close since the OP did not pursue the trail and going to find it this morning right away, you don't need the dog and you call it off. That's my opinion. Would have my doubts on the meat though, it isn't cool enough weather.
We're fixin' to find out though.
