    Lake Buchanan Striper fishing

Well we were supposed to be at North Padre Wednesday through Sunday but due to the weather we have called that a loss. Trying to salvage some of this week and was thinking of hauling the family and boat up to Buchanan for a day trip but I have only fished it once along time ago.

Any pointers on where to look for stripers this time of year and are the shad up in the creeks or on the main lake

This time of year, the striper are going to be on the river channel edges. When it gets hot you need to fish early and late and on the deeper edges. Look for the bait balls on your fish finder. There are two humps down by the dam on the East side of the lake in front of a big house and beach, they are out about 300 yards this time of year. That is one place to start. The river channel off of rocky point would be another, rocky point has a big house and lighthouse looking building on it.

    Good luck

Buchanan should be good. You’ll catch something or some of everything on that Lake
