IMO West TX starts around Wichita Falls and East TX starts around Sulphur Springs/Tyler area. Middle area, DFW, is North TX or simply DFW Metroplex.

Fun fact - a lot of people in Midland considered San Antonio to be South Texas. I quit arguing after a while and let them think they were right.

Then what is San Antonio? It's generally considered part of south Texas.

I agree that east of 45 is east Texas
West of 83 is west Texas
          The middle is central Texas

I like this map. Except for the fact that in Orange county we have pine trees next to cypress trees in our marshes so I consider it pineywoods/ETX too

I was wondering when one of the intelligent ones would speak up. Especially since east texas is the only part that has this reputation of illegal activities in the state. And yes very well earned since there are no deer left.

I consider San Antonio the northern boundary of South Texas.

East of I45 is ETx. Central Tx start at I45 to San Angelo/Del Rio. West would be out past San Angelo.

At least we all agree.... and that's what matters.

I grew up in Abilene and it was considered West Texas. The West Texas fair and other West Texas events are held there.
