    Can anyone identify this Hornet /Wasp

    Found this dead on my driveway. Is it a killer Hornet? It about 1-1/2” long.

    looks like a cicada killer to me!! not big enough to be a murder hornet

                      I recently heard a cicada buzzing and rattling around on the workbench in my garage. I checked it out and one of those killers had it pinned and was jabbing it with its stinger then picked it up and flew off. Impressive critter!

                        Growing up down in south Texas, we would see those somewhat regularly, in the summer. Man those things would scare the crap out of me, never came close to getting stung. But listening to a cicada as it is getting stung by one of those suckers, sounds like it hurts a LOT. I don't ever want to find out.

                        When I was a kid, if I ever saw one of those in the yard, I never took my eyes off of it, till it was gone.

                            I found one dead and put it in a super small glass jar….a couple years ago. Thos year my son took it to school for show and tell…then kept it handy in his backpack for half the school year to continually show his buddies.
