The fencing worked wonders on the alfalfa as is was knee high by the time Dan and Tim opened them up to the deer

Stopped off for a little breakfast break in Holton, KS...back on the road for the home stretch now! About 3-1/2 hours to go and we’ll be back in Woodbury County to meet up with the rest of the cast for this weeks hunt...

Stolle and Steve-O should be landing in Omaha around noon!

Man, those food plots look STRONG. Sure wouldn't mind throwing some of them turnips in a big ol pot with some smoked pork neck!

Y'all fill that skinning pole up! Good luck.

Not to be outdone, the next generation of Woodbury County boys were first up on the game pole this year with their archery equipment

Blake (age 12) killed this massive buck in early October

And Seth (age 8) took a doe just a few days later

Seth was actually “there from the very beginning” so to speak...he was born November 10, 2009 the first day we arrived for our first hunt up here in Woodbury County. He made it home on from the hospital November 12th just in time to take a TGP with the big 9-point I shot on Mike’s farm just over the ridge behind their house

All set at the Lower Dance Floor...we moved a second stand below a tank dam based on the majority of the movement we saw last season in this location. I’m about 150 yards north of the spot I was in last season. Walked around around three freshened scrapes on the walk across the tank dam and there is a tree shredded 20 yards away in a primary shooting lane

All set on a new stand we put up this summer. I'm up a ridge a ways on a bench above the corn field and river. I have 2 major trails that cross out in front of me.

A couple more....

It is absolutely dead quiet here this afternoon with an occasional small gust of wind...we should be able to hear the deer walking through the leaves but they will be able to hear us too

Stolle had about 15 deer including one shooter buck in range this evening, but cell service was lacking at the two stands where he and Steve went tonight. We pulled some game cards and it looks like the bucks are really starting to cruise looking for does in the past week. It's only a matter of time until one of these river bottom brutes comes cruising by one of us!

All set at the lower dance floors. Light drizzling rain on this bed of leaves makes for some good cover noise, but it’s gonna be hard to hear the deer coming through the leaves with everything so wet!

I can hear turkeys still rooting in the burr oaks in front of me...and two coons got into an argument down in the creek bottom below me just now

It’s gonna be a good day!
